City Hall, Monday June 23rd, 1930
pursuant to adjournment of . June 4th, the. Council was called .to
order at 7:30 pm by Mayor Bowen.
Councilmen present: Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Stevens , King
Councilmen absent : None
Bids on pier Mayor Bowen announced that this was the time set by the Clerk and
Council for opening and examining bids for the repair and extension of
the Municipal Pier; The following bids were opened and read by the Clerk
MERRITT—CHAPMAN & SCOTT CORPORATION, PO Box 698, Port of L.A. San Pedro ,
RECONSTRUCTION- AND REPAIRS:
Part' l', ' Item' l: For the removal of old concrete and replacing of same
with gunite to original cross—section of members , the sum of $25.30 per
cubic yard of cement gunite so placed.
ITETR 2:" For the removal of old reinforcing steel and replacing with new
reinforcing -st.eel, the sum of $.08 -per pound of new reinforcing steel
so placed.
ITtM' For the placing of. concrete shells around and the making of
gunite additions to existing piles , the sum of $19,092.00. -
ITEM 4; For the lighting and wiring systems , the sum of $42206.00.
t`TEM i For all .other reconstruction and repairs , inclusive of side—
walks , rest rooms , etc , the sum of $25,766.00.
PART 2 EXTENSION:
Item 1, for the construction of the extension to the existing structure,
complete with boat landing, and lighting and wiring systems , the sum of
$612927.00. Bid accompanied by bidder1.8 bond in the sum. of $10 ,000.00.

The application of W H Jones to operate riding academy from stables

near the intersection of Main St and Mansion Ave, and the application
of A C Allen to conduct dance hall at the Beach pavilion were on motion
by Conrad seconded by Butcher approved.

Dance Hall The application of Leslie L White to conduct dance hall at
302 Ocean Ave -was, on motion by Conrad seconded by Stevens approved.
Dance Hall The Clerk gave ordinance No. 336, repealing certain parts of the -
Ord. 336
dance—hall ordinance, its first reading.
On motion byrKing seconded by Stevens , demands approved by the
Demands
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
The surety bond of W C Hill Electric Co. was accepted and ordered

filed on motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher.

The Clerk presented and read Resolution No 631-,_ authorizing the
Reso. 631— •1 acceptance of a 5 foot strip on each side of the parking along Main St
from 14th to the City limits for street purposes. On motion by Conrad
seconded by Butcher, Resolution No. 63'1, was passed and adopted by the
following vote)
Ayes Councilmen: Butcher, Conrad, Stevens , King, Bowen,
Naes Councilmen: None
The Contract between the City and Morrison & Dockins fishing
Barge Contract
barge operators, was read, and on motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher
were authorized to execute same on. behalf of the City of Huntington- Beech.
The letter of C H Ellis , in which he offers to sell the City certain
water bearing lands , was referred to Councilman King.
The Clerk gave Ordinance No 334 its second. and last reading, and
Ord. 334
on motion by Conrad seconded by King same was passed and adopted by
the following vote :
Ayes Councilmen : Butcher, Conrad, Stevens , King, Bowen, -1
Noes Councilmen : None
Ordinance No 335 was presented and read to the Council the second
Ord 335 and last time, and on motion by Conrad seconded by Stevens , Ord No
335 was passed and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes Coi:incilmen: Butdler, Conrad, Stevens, King, Bowen.
Noes Councilmen: None
A letter from the Associated Telephone Co addressed to Councilman
Phone Pole King, relative to pole and line over driveway at 806 Main St was referred
to the City Engineer for investigation and report.

Mayor Bowen informed the Council that the 0 C Coast Assn. at its
Widening
Coast Road meeting of June 17th, discussed the matter of this City widening the
paving of the Coast Highway within the City limits. This was referred
to the City Engineer with instructions to communicate with the State
Highway Commission, advising it what this City has already expended.
Mr Fred Brooks addressed the Council relative to donation for the
Golf Course cost of constructing a public golf course. The matter was referred to
the Parks Committee for report.
On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher the Council adjourned until
7:30 p m, Friday ,dune 27th.
