HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-06-27 500 .4-®o MI."NUTE:S City Hall, Friday June 27th, 1930 ~ Pursuant to adjournment of June 23rd, the Council was called to order at 7;30 p m by Mayor Bowen ; Councilmen present; Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Stevens , King Councilmen absent ; None Clerk Pro- On account of illness of City Clerk C R . Furr, Councilman Conrad tem was appointed Clerk pro-tem on motion by Butcher seconded by King. The Clerk read a letter from Consulting Engineer Paul Bailey,;. and City Lngineer Merwin Rosson (By Harry Overmyer, assistant) in which Pier Bids they analyze bids offered for repair and construction of the Municipal pier. Both .recommend that the City Council accept the bid of Merritt- Chapman and Scott Corporation and that same appears to be the lowest and best bid submitted. On. motion by Stevens , seconded by Butcher all bids were rejected Pier Contract except that of Merritt-Chapman and.. Scott Corporation, and their bid accepted. Motion put and carried by the following vote; Ayes Councilmen ; Butcher, Conrad, Stevens, King, Bowen. Noes Councilmen ; None 1 On motion by King, seconded by Stevens , the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign contract with Merritt-Chapman and Scott Corp. for the repair and extension of the Municipal Pier, on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach. The application of the Pentecostals to conduct public meetings in a Tent Meeting tent and erect a tent near intersection of Delaware & Nashville Sts was on motion by King seconded by Butcher approved. On motion by King seconded by Butcher permission was granted A J Derrick permits Bellpont Jr to erect steel derrick on Lot 25 Block 317. On motion by King seconded by Stevens permission was granted MCRR Oil Co Ltd to erect steel derrick on lots 1 & 3 Block 221. Parking permit The application of Paul Tayrien to operate parking stand a 111 - 3rd St was .approved on motion by Butcher seconded by Stevens. o On motion by Butcher seconded by King the application of the . Firevmrks American Legion to sell fire works at concessions 7 and 24 beach front was approved. The application of Mooseheart ladies to operate hot-dog and lunch Hot-do- 0 stand at concessions 22 and 23 beach front was on motion by King seconded by Stevens approved. On motion by Butcher seconded by King permission was granted Mrs Lunch Stand S Martin to operate lunch stand at 190 Ocean Ave.. July 4th, 5th & oth. i On motion by Stevens seconded by King the applications of T C Vincent, Mrs L Robinson to operate lunch stands and Geo Lowry to operate Popcorn stand were approved. The application of Disabled Veterans to sell fire works -July 4th was on motion by King seconded by Stevens denied. Council adjourned, Motion by King seconded by Butcher.
