HomeMy WebLinkAbout1930-12-02 J . M M I N_U T E S City Hall Tuesday Dec 2nd, 1930 Pursuant to adjournment of Dec lst, the City Council was called. to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Bowen. Councilmen present: Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Stevens , King. Councilmen absent : None On motion by \king seconded by Stevens , the Council approved contract East Side submitted by the Southern California Edison Company for installing lighting lighting units on East. side and portions of, 17th street West side, and authorized and directed the Mayor and City Clerk to execute contract on behalf of the City. Work to consist of 98, 250 C.P. lamps mounted in place , and to be t located as per map prepared by City Engineer Rosson. On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher the matter of removing bank Bank removal on ocean front property as proposed by W R Osborne president of the Chamber ocean front �,► of Commerce, was tabled at the suggestion of Mr Osborne on account of legal and other difficulties in securing a permit. On motion by Conrad seconded by Stevens the City Controller was Strong box authorized to purchase at a price not to exceed $250.00 a strong box, satisfactory to the City Treasurer, for holding securities owned by and in care of the City, also to secure space for such strong box in a bank vault satisfactory to the Treasurer. On motion by King seconded by Butcher a vote of thanks was given to Vote of Thanks to Osborne and W R Osborne, President of the Chamber of Commerce and to officials of the P E Ry �►' Pacific Electric Railway for their interest in the unemployed of this City. r - Mr Jaseph Vavra, on behalf of the High School asked that the City' s .Utica St contractor complete the paving of Utica street as soon as possible. This the Council agreed to do as soon as the condition of the ground would permit. On motion by Conrad seconded by. Butcher, City Attorney Blodget was Beach. Front directed to communicate with Attorney Degrian';of the Huntington Beach Cc -� and to extend an invitation to officials of the Huntington Beach Company, Pacific Electric Company and Standard Oil Cc to meet with the City Council for the purpose of discussing matters pertaining to the City' s acquisition of the beach front. This in accordance with suggestions contained in a recent letter signed by Attorney Degnan.
