HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-02-0322 MI"NU.TES City Hall, Tuesday Feb 3rd, 1931 pursuant to adjournment of Feb 2nd, the Council was called to order at 10.:00 o'clock AM by Mayor Bowen. Councilmen present: Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Stevens, King, Councilmen absent : None Mr Luttrell, representing the Santa Rita Oil Co appeared before Derrick B113 the Council and requested that action in the demolition of derrick located at lots 13,14,15 B1 813 be deferred for the reason that he was ready to start immediately the work of reconstruction of. the derrick and cleaning up of the sump hole. Following motion by Conrad, "That the City Engineer be instructed to withold action until noon, Friday February 5th, and if by that time work of reconstruction and cleaning up had not been commenced in a workman like manner to proceed with demolition of the derrick". Motion seconded by King, put and carried unanimously. After some discussion by the Council, and upon the re- commendations of Engineer Rosson and Schilling & Schilling, Memorial Hall` bids architects, relative to the Alterations of and Additions to the General Contract present Municipal Auditorium, the following motion was made by Biltbher, "That alternatives set forth in the specifications and bids for the General Contract for the Alterations and Additions to the present Municipal Auditorium, numbered 2,4,7 and 14 be approved and that all other alternatives be rejected from the, contract" Motion seconded by Stevens put and carried unanimously. Whereupon the following motion was made by Conrad "That the bpd of WILLIAM JOHN ESSER for the doing of the General Contract work under the contract as altered by alternatives 2,4,7 and 14, which alternatives leave his bid at the sum of $29,887.00 be accepted as the lowest responsible bid, and that all other bids on the General Contract be rejected" Motion seconded by King, put and carried unanimously. On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher the City Clerk was painting directed to re -advertise for bids for painting of the above named structure in accordance with plans and specifications under alternatives numbered 14 and 23, and that bids be opened and examined on March 2nd at 7:30 PM. Following motion by Conrad "That alternative No 19 set forth in the specifications and bids for the installation of plumbing plurnbing in the above named structure be accepted and that alternative No 1 1 �r 1 20 be rejected" Motion seconded by Butcher, put and carried unanimously. 9 Minutes Feb 3, 1931 M__, 1 Electrical Whereupon the following motion by Conrad, "That the plumbing contract be awarded to ED MANNING as altered by alternate No 19 which alternate leaves his bid at the sum of $2,005.00 and that all other bids be rejected" Motion seconded by Butcher put and carried unanimously. On motion by King seconded by Butcher, action on bids for doing the electrical work was def erred until 7:30 PM1 Tuesday February loth. At this time, 12:10 PM the Council recessed for luncheon. Council again called to order at 1:15 PM by mayor Boizren. Councilmen present; Bowen, Conrad, Stevens, King Councilmen absent 10, Butcher On motion by King seconded by Conrad the Council committed Frankfort itself to a program, that in the event the Frankfort Street cut - cut -off off is improved, the cost of sidewalks and curbs only be assessed against the adjoining property. The Clerk informed the Council that owners of property in Owners submit the path of the Frankfort Street cut-off had submitted prices prices asked for their property as follows; D T Hallicy, Lots 1,2,3,4, Watsons Re -subdivision $72000:00 provided the Council agrees that Acacia Street crossing be not closed, price good for 10 days only. W R McKee, lots 1 and 2 Block 601 VD114 together with improvements -'................................................. $5)000.00 J P Howell, portion (46.80 sq ft) ........... Lots 14 and 16 and approximately 2/3 of lot 18 Bl 5o4.....................................$62000.00 sq Geo W Wardwell, 255.64/ft of lot 20 Bl 504 plus cost of moving garage and plumbing ........... $1,000.00 Mr Wardwell also offers $1,000.00 for the approximate 1/3 of lot 18 B1 504 1 After some discussion the Council expressed the opinion that prices were unreasonable and highly excessive and that the matter of improvement be dropped indefinitely. Engineer Rosson submitted plans and specifications for the Horseshoe erection of.Horseshoe Club house and on motion by Conrad seconded Club by Stevens same were approved. Pier extras Sick leave Minutes Feb 3, 1931 On motion by Conrad seconded by King the City Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for the construction of Horseshoe Club house in accordance with plans and specifications on file and that bids be opened and ex- wrined Monday March 2nd, 1931.at 7:30 PM. On motion by Conrad seconded by Stevens, the firm of Schilling and Schilling was requested to prepare and submit a preliminary plan of pier improvements including understructure. Cost of servid.es to be determined by Schilling & Schilling and the Council advised. On motion by Conrad seconded by Stevens no city employee shall in the future be absent from duty for any cause in excess of one week on full pay,except when on regular annual vacation.
