HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-02-1025 r 1 1 M I N U T E S City Hall, Tuesday February loth, 1931 Pursuant to adjournment of Feb 2nd the Council met and was called to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Bowen. Councilmen present:, Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Stevens, King. Councilmen absent : None On motion by King seconded by Conrad the bid of Robertson Auditorium Electric Company of Santa Ana for the installation of wiring and Electric Contract electric appliances in the city auditorium was accepted at their bid of $2338.00 and all other bids rejected. Motion put and carried by the following vote; Ayes Councilmen; Butcher, Conrad, Stevens, King, Bovien, Noes Councilmen; None Demands On motion by Stevens seconded by King, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. The Clerk read a letter from the State Highway Department in which the Highway; Department agreed to stand 50 per cent of the Ocean Ave. ' widening cost of widening Ocean Avenue within the city limits.. Also a resolution by the County of Orange Supervisors agreeing to pay 25 per cent of :the expense. Engineer Rosson stated that..plans 'a,rid specifications for the Plans work would be ready about the middle of March. On motion by Conad seconded by Butcher the City Engineer and Horseshoe Club Schilling & Schilling were directed to revise plans and specifications plans for the erection of Huntington Beach Horseshoe Club improvements providing for the elimination of the septic tank and providing plans for running sewage into the city sewer system. Whereupon Mr Schilling submitted the revised plans and specifications and on motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher same were accepted and approved and the Clerk directed to advertise for bids in accordance with the revised plans. and specifications. In the matter of approval of resubdivision tract No 454, the Sub -division map Tr 454 Clerk was directed to write the owner John A Murdy, R F D No 1 Box 459, Huntington Beach, and invite him to appear before the Council and explain the necessity or advisability for the re -subdivision. Following motion by Stevens, seconded by Conrad "That the City Engineer be instructed to withold action in the matter of demolition of derrick located on lots 17,14,15 Block 813 until March lst, 1931, Derrick Bl 813 and if by that time work of reconstruction and cleaning up the premises has not been commenced in a workmanlike manner to proceed with the demolition of the derrick" Motion put and carried unanimously. 26 Minutes Feb 10, 1931 Crest Ave. Engineer Rosson reported that the improvement d.f.Crest Avenue and paving r others had been delayed somewhat on account of the rain, but that work had started again. Schilling & Schilling reported not yet ready with plans for Pier improvements on the pier, but that he hoped to submit them at next meeting. On motion by Conrad seconded by King, the report of Henry Pier Cafe Wirth Asst St Supt covering repairs on Ocean Ave was accepted and ordered filed. B H Dulaney asked that his application -for permit to operate Pier Cafe cafe on the pier be.withdra.wn. The request was granted. The Clerk read a letter from the High School Board Letter High School protesting against a proposed road oil plant being placed in the re -oil plant vicinity of the high school. The Clerk was directed to inform the Board that the City Council had no knowledge of such a plant being erected. 1st St. The request of Lyndon A Wells that lst Street and Lake � Paving Avenue be paved was referred to the Street Committee. The application of W L Brewer to operate Do -Nut stand at 104 - 5th Street was approved. The matter of additional insurance for the City Auditorium Insurance Wds; deferred to next meeting March 2nd.
