City Hall, Tuesday May 5th, 1931
Pursuant to adjournment of May 4thl; the Council was called to order
at 7:30 PIf by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present: Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
• Councilmen absent : None
Minutes On.motion by Stevens, seconded by King minutes for the month of
April were approved as read.
Mayor Conrad announced the following appointments of committeemen
on the City Council:

- The Clerk read Resolution No 642 relative to construction of five
structures on the Municipal pier, and on motion by Butcher seconded by
Reso -42 King, Resolution No 642 was passed and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes Councilmen Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad
Noes Councilmen None
On.motion by Butcher seconded by Huston the Council accepted deed
from Everett G Ford, a single mar, and Alta I Ford Reed, formerly Alta ---
Deed Joliet
1 St. I Ford to the City of Huntington Beach covering the north 30 feet of.lots
"A" and "B" in Block 908, Vista Del Mar. Tract Section 7, same to be used
for street purposes.

Recess The Chair at this time declared a 30 minute recess.
Council again called to order at 8:20 Pm by Mayor Conrad, all
Councilmen present.
The Clerk read a proposal from Ed Manning to install toilets in
Toilet
fixtures the Memorial Hall, on motion by Butcher seconded by King, same was

referred to the Buildings and Improvements Committee with power to<.act..
The application of T F and A B Crawford to permit to demonstrate
Auto-Accessoryautomobile accessories at 408 Ocean Ave was approved on motion by King
license
seconded by Stevens.
On motion by Huston seconded by'King the same were given permission
to erect sign, same to be in accordance. with City Ordinances.

Furniture On motion by King, seconded by Butcher the City Controller
Horseshoe Club was authorized to purchase furniture and drapes for the Horse-
shoe Club House, in amount not to exceed $200.00.
The application of the Huntington Beach Realty Board for
H B Realty $60.00 to defray advertising expense for the City in the Real-
Adv $60. estate Journal, was referred to,the Music & Promotion Committee.
Pier_Bldgs. The estimate of Catching Bros for erecting structures on '
the pier was referred to the Beach and Pier Committee.
Pump house Councilman Stevens reported no reply from Huntington Beach Co. l
re- pier pump house remodeling.
Fishing Barge No action by the Council on application for permission to use
Appl.
pier landing by D M Campbell.
The petition of various business houses -for a two-hour parking
Parking limit limit was referred to Streets and Parks Committee with power to act
in accordance with-ordinances•and•resolutions:governing.
Rifle Club The application of the H B• Rifle• Club for funds was referred to
the Police and Fire -Committee.
Supt. of Streets -Wirth reported bursted water main on Wesley
Water mains bursted Ave, that damage was being done to the -newly paved streets, and
that the leak was caused by - old wooden mains giving away. On motion
by King seconded by Butcher the Street Supt. was directed to
order the Water Company to make immediate repairs.
Councilman Butcher said no report relative to new drinking
Water water supply. City Clerk stated that no reply had been received
from the American States Water Service Co concerning date set for
turning in water from the new well.
Bond Mayor Conrad informed the Council that former Mayor Bowen r
City Clerk's had delivered Surety Bond of the City Clerk for safe keeping.
The Clerk was directed to write the County Board of
Auto dump Supervisors relative to a public dumping ground for old auto r
bodies and ask their support in securing a site.
Street Supt. Wirth reported that Joliet Street was ready for
Joliet St oil and would be completed by May 16th.
Assistant Ingineer Overmyer presented plans and specifications
Ocean Ave. for the improvement of Ocean Avenue consisting of a 20 foot
widening strip from the east to west city limits, except that
portion b stween 23rd Street and lst Street.
On motion by Butcher seconded by Stevens same were approved
and adopted by the following vote.

On motion by Butcher seconded by King, the City Clerk was directed
to advertise for sealed bids for furnishing labor and material for the
Bids Ocean
improvement of Ocean Avenue from the easterly to westerly city limits,
Ave. widenyng
except that portion lying between lst street and 23rd street. Motion
put and carried unanimously. Bids to be. opened and examined, at 7:30
PM, Monday May 25th, 1931.
Demands approved by the Finance Committee this date were

On motion by Huston seconded by Butcher the recommendation

monthly salary of $150.00 commencing May 6th, 1931 and continuing
during the pleasure of the Council, was accepted and approved.
On motion by King seconded by Stevens the Council adjourned
until Monday May llth, 7;30 PIJ-
