Tuesday May 26th, 1931
Pursuant to adjournment. of May 25th the Council was called to
order at 3:00 o'clock PM by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present; Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad
Councilmen absent; Butcher
The Clerk submitted samples of draperies, and carpet also
sketches of furniture which had been previously filed with bids for
furnishing the Memorial Hall. After some discussion the Clerk
recommended that theCouncil reject all bids except the bid of
Barker Bros of Los Angeles and that their bid be accepted as the
lowest and best.bid, whereupon, on motion by Ring seconded by
Stevens, all bids for furnishing the Memorial Hall with furniture,
draperies and carpet were rejected except that of Barker Bros. of
Los Angeles, and their bid totaling $4,191.86 accepted.
On motion by King seconded by Huston all bids for furnishing
a gas range for the memorial Hall were rejected and the City Clerk
authorized to purchase a Roper or equivalent Range at a cost -not
to exceed $225.00 from the Southern Counties Gas Co.
On motion by King seconded by Stevens former City Engineer
Natt Neff was allowed the salary of $25.00 for services rendered
during the month of May, 1931.
On motion by Stevens, seconded by King, Harry Overmyer was
appointed Building Inspector without salary, and to serve during
the pleasure of the Council.
On motion by Huston seconded by King, Henry Wirth was appointed
Plumbing Inspector and Electric Inspector without salary and to
serve during the pleasure of the Council.
Attorney Blodget was asked to look into the matter of title to
street crossings formerly occupied by the P E Santa Ana car line.
On motion by Stevens seconded by Huston the recommendation of
Architect Schilling for furnishing lighting fixtures in the Memorial
Hall was approved and fixtures of the Sblar Lighting and Fixture
Company to be purchased at a price not to exceed $706.53.
On motion by King seconded by Ste s Council adjourned.
