Z Councilmen present; Conrad, Huston, King, Butcher. Councilmen.absent; Stevens. City Hall roof On motion.by Huston seconded by Butcher the City Clerk was authorized to have the City Hall roof repaired at a cost not to exceed $55.00. On motion by Huston seconded by King authority was painting,City Hall Building. given Supt. of Streets Wirth to proceed. with painting the -i► City Hall at a cost not to exceed $499.00, work to be.done under W. R. Higgins and L.A.Vtells and to consist of two coats, they working on city pay roll and to use painters and helpers residing in the city who are also to be on city pay roll. Demands approved by the finance committee were Demands ordered paid on motion by King seconded by Huston. Railing City Hall batter of renewing railing on City Hall steps was Steps referred to Asset Engineer Overmyer for estimate of cost. r The application of Claude Frederick to operate lunch Cafe stand at 126 Main Street was approved on motion by King seconded by Huston. On motion by King seconded by Huston, the.Surety Bond Bond of A. D. Moody house movers was approved and.ordered filed. Attorney Fees _ The chair appointed a committee composed of King, Ocean front case Butcher and Conrad to select one attorney from the Orange County Bar Association to assist in arriving at attorney fees of Blodget and Overaker in the case City vs- Huntington Beach Co. et al. This as per agreement formerly arrived at between Attorney Blodget and the City Council. Ocean Front Attorney Blodget informed the Council that the Local Post of the American Legion at a recent meeting had passed a resolution to the effect that the City Council endeavor to bring about a settlement out of court in the case now pending between the City and Huntington Beach Co. et al. .also that a it. copy of this resolution was now in the hands of Attorney Felix of the Standard Oil Co. Mayor Conrad stated that during the San Diego trial, (case above referred to) a Director of the Huntington Beach Co. had 4 92 approached him and suggested a meeting between mayor Conrad and representatives of the Huntington Beach Co.. and Standard Oil Company with a view of compromising the suit. Mayor Conrad stated that since that time he had telephoned the Director but to date had been unable to arrange a definite date for the meeting. Further action deferred to next meeting and pending the filing with the City Clerk the resolution passed by the American Legion. Ocean Ave. trees George Wardwell addressed the Council relative to beautifying the parking along Ocean Ave. He suggested the ,planting of palms about 25 feet apart and perhaps the planting of ice plant in the.parking. Also that he be employed to supervise the work. Matter referred to the Streets *arid Parks Committee for investigation' and report. On motion by Huston seconded by King the Council adjourned until 10:00 A.M. Monday November 23d, 1931.
