HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-11-23M I N U T E S City Hall, Monday Nov. 23d, 1931. .Pursuant to adjournment of November 16th, the Council met and was called to order at iOt00 o'clock A.M. Councilmen present; Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King. Councilmen absent; Conrad. Butcher In the absence of Mayor Conrad, Councilman Butcher was Mayor pro—tem appointed Mayor pro—tem on motion by King seconded by Huston. Huston Council:nan/was appointed on the finance committee. On motion by Stevens seconded by Huston the license License application of Max Schenfield to sell auto accessories at 438 `ain St. and Edgar B. Dalton to sell bakery goods at 128 Main Street were approved. Attorney Blodget referred to his verbal report of Nov. Beach front 16th concerning beach front suit. Mr. Blodget stated that he had since the 16th talked with Attorney Max Felix who suggested that the matter of a compromise be taken up by \ letter. That Mayor Conrad had submitted a proposal for com- promise in writing and that same was being considered by the San Francisco office of the defendants, and that the City would no doubt receive a reply by November 21st. Legion Resolution The Clerk read a letter and resolution of the American Legion local post in which it was recommended that the City Council endeavor to bring about an agreeable compromise of the beach front suit. The Legion informed the Council that they were concerned only in tryinc, to bring about a speedy and agreeable settlement of the ina,tter. The Legion resolution was accepted and ordered filed. Derricks Matter of unsafe derricks deferred to next meeting. P. E Lease for The proposed lease of the P.E.Ry. on a strip on the ocean parking side of Ocean Avenue between Main and 1st streets was referred to Attorney Blodget for the purpose of amendment so as to protect the city in any rights acquired in the past.:. Huntington Ave. Councilman King recommended that Huntington Ave. be opened in a straight line easterly to Ocean Ave. Mr..King stated that Mr. W. T. Newland stood ready to donate a right of way over his land. Matter referred to Asset. Engineer Overmyer for report at the December 7th meeting. Ocean Ave. Matter of planting trees along Ocean Ave. deferred. On motion by King seconded by Stevens, Street Sup't. Mirth was authorized to purchase new conveyor belt for street sweeper 't at cost not to exceed $261.00. Demands On motion by Stevens seconded by Huston demands approved �`- by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. Council adjourned until 10:00 A.M.
