City Hall, Monday December 7, 1931.
The regular meeting of the Council was called to order
by the Clerk at 7:30 P.M.
Butcher Mayor On motion by King seconded by Huston Councilman Butcher
Pro-tem
was elected Mayor pro-tem.
Councilmen present: Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King
Councilman absent Conrad
Minutes On motion by King seconded by Huston, Minutes for the
-month of November were approved.
The Chair.appointed Councilman Huston on the Finance
Committee.
Reports
The Clerk read monthly reports of the City Clerk,
City Treasurer, City Engineer, City Street Superintendent,
Chief of Police and City Judge, and on motion by Stevens
~
seconded by Huston same were accepted and ordered filed.
Ext. Huntington
The Clerk read a letter from L.A.Stevenson of Orange,
Ave.
a property owner, who recommended the extension of Huntington
Avenue to Ocean Avenue. No action by the Council.
Ambulance
The Clerk read a letter from W. D. Young, Ford dealer
in which the Ford ambulance was offered to the City for the sun
of $1500.00 instead of the original bid price of $1869.50. On
motion by King seconded by Stevens the proposal was ordered
filed.
Americanization
On motion by King seconded by Stevens the invitation of
Class
the American Legion Post for the Council to attend the American-
ization Class meeting Wednesday, December 16tb, was accepted.
The request of the Basiness Ilen's Association for electric
Lighting Alleys
lights in the alley between Main and 5th streets from Ocean avenue
to Orange Avenue, and the alley between Main and 3rd Street from
Ocean Avenue to Olive Avenue was referred to the Street Superintend
to make estimate of cost and report at next meeting.
Getty Appl. for The application of Geo. F. Getty Co. to construct overhead
Steam line
permit
steam line across alley in Block 420 was referred back to Engineer
and Street Superintendent for recommendation and report back at
next meeting.
Press -Telegram Matter of advertising in the Press -Telegram annual edition
deferred to next meeting, Monday 14th.
Christmas tree Dwight Clapp, representing the Fire Department appealed to
the Council for $200.00 to help defray expense of Christmas tree

and presents for children. Referred to Music and Promotion_ Committee
for reUort December 14th.
Golf Club
Matter of purchasing and remodeling building for
Building golf club referred to Street Superintendent for estimate of
cost and report back at ne;- t meeting.
Demands Demands approved.by the finance Comnittee were
ordered paid on motion by Stevens seconded. by Huston.
Meeting adjourned until 10:00 A.M., Monday
December 14th, 1931, or. motion by King seconded by Huston.
