City Hall-, Monday .December lu, 1931.
Pursuant to adjournment of December 7th the City
Council :net and was called to order at 10:00 O'clock A.M.
by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present; Conrad; Huston, Stevens, King.
,Councilman absent: Butcher
Golf Building The Clerk read an estimate submitted by Suptt.of `
Streets Wirth covering purchase, removal and repair of a
building to be used as a golf club house, estimate $1515.00.
Matter referred to Streets and Parks Committee for their
V _ = investigation and report at next meeting.
Alley -Lights On motion by King seconded by'Stevens, the Sup't.
of Streets was authorized and directed to proceed with the
installation of lights in alleys between 3rd and 5th streets
as -requested by the Business Mens' Association.
Beach. Front The Clerk read a letter signed by E.A.Suter
commending the Council for settlement and acquisition of
the beach front.
Geo. F Getty The application of Geo. F. Getty to install over—
head pipe lines over alley in oil field was referred to the
Streets and Parks Committee for investigation and definite
report next meeting. Motion to deny the application, made
by Stevens lost for want of second.
The Chair appointed Councilman Huston on the
Finance Committee in the absence of Councilman Butcher.
Ambulance On motion by King seconded by Huston the offertof
17. D. Young to sell the city a Ford ambulance for $1.500 was
rejected.
Advertising On motion by King seconded by Huston the sum of.
$115.00 was appropriated.f rom the Music and Promotion Fund
for advertising in the Press —Telegram annual edition.
' Fire Dept. The sum of $200.00 to help defray expense of
Christmas tree Christmas tree and baskets of food for the.needy was voted
on motion by Huston seconded by King.

approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
C D Steward, Police The Clerk read the resignation of Chief of police
Chief resigns Chas. D. Steward. The Council at this time declared a short
recess, after which it reconvened, all members of the Council
present.
L F. Keller made On motion by King seconded by Stevens the resignation
acting chief
of Chas. D. Stewa,rd, Chief of police was accepted and L_F.Ke11er
appointed Acting Chief of Police at a monthly salary of $225.00

per month to continue during the pleasure of the City Council.
The matter of appointment of member of the Orange_
Attorney Fees
County Bar Association to assist in fixing the fees of
Attorney.Blodget and Overaker account beach front suit was
discussed. No action taken.
Attorney Blodget advised the City Council to defer
P. E. Lease
action on the Pacific Electric lease of parking strip along
Ocean Avenue from Main to 1st street pending final settlement
of beach front case. Also that he expected papers and
easement covering beach front, Main Street to easterly limits
of Huntington Beach Company beach property, to be receivedin
a few days.
On motion by King seconded by Huston the council
adjourned until 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 21st, 1931.
