City Hall, Monday December 21, 1931
Pursuant to adjourrmient of December 14th, the Council met and
was called to order at 10:00 A.M. by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present: Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad
Councilmen absent: None
Getty Overhead The Clerk read a letter from Geo. F. Getty Co. and one
pipe line from the Southern California tdison Co. ' to the effect that the'
last named had no objections to Getty & Company installing
overhead pipe lines across alley in Block_420.
On motion by King seconded by Stevens permission was
granted Getty Co. to install and operate overhead lines over
alley in Block 420 provided they sign. an agreement to remove
same any time after the expiration of 120 days and provided
they submit sufficient evidence of carrying liability in- ,
sure --ice to protect the city.
Alley Lights Superintendent of Streets Wirth informed the Council that
extra lights were being installed in the alleys between 3rd and
5th streets as per order of the Council.
Horse shoe club The clerk presented a letter from members of.the Horse Shoe
Bldg. C1ub'asking that the building be enlarged by glassing in the porch.
Matter -referred to the Streets and Parks Committee for report
next meeting.
Heating The Clerk informed the Council that a survey of heating
appliances in the Memorial :call and Horse Shoe Club house
disclosed the fact that the various rooms were not sufficient-
ly heated, and that a number of complaints had been made do
that effect. The Williams Radiator Company,submitted a bid
for installing the necessary additional heating units for the
sum of $264.65 net, allowing full credit for small units
replaced. On motion by Stevens seconded by.Butcher the City
Controller was authorized to order the necessary additional
heating units.
Bond The Surety bond of 0. V. Dart, house mover was accepted
and ordered filed on motion by King seconded by Butcher.
The Clerk read a letter from the Chamber of Commerce
Beach front
commending the Council for settlement of the beach acquisition
sui t.
Police Dept. Appointments of A. J. Parker, patrolman, lam. T. Hunter,
appointments patrolman and 0. A. Mosier, desk sergeant by the Chief of
Police were approved on motion by Butcher seconded by Huston.

The recommendation of Chief Keller that police cars

be kept off entrance to pier and .that taxi cabs also be

removed from their present stand at the north end of the
P. E. Depot to the Ocean Avenue side was approved and the Chief
authorized to make the charge on motion by King seconded by
Butbher.
On motion by King seconded by Butcher the City Clerk was

directed to advertise for purchase of a new light weight 4
door sedan for use of the police Department. Car to be
Chevrolet or its equivalent fully equipped for police service,
bids to be opened and examined January llth, 10:00 A.M.

The Clerk submitted a settlement statement from the

1i License Richfield Oil Company and subsidiaries covering dry gas sales
Richfield Oil Co. from July 1927 to -September 30, 1931 accompanied by check in
Demands On motion by Huston seconded by Butcher the
statement and check were accepted in full settlement
of the account to date of September 30th, 1131.

agreement dated September 29, 1926.
Demands approved by the Finance Committee were approved
and ordered paid on motion by Stevens seconded by Huston.
The Chair declared a recess at this time 11:30 A.M.
Council again called to order at 12:20 P.M., all members
of the council present except Butcher.
On motion by Huston seconded by Stevens the Council
adjourned until 10:00 A.M. Monday December 2, 1931-
