HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-01-2511� M I N U T E S City Hall, Monday Jan. 25th, 1932. Pursuant to adjournment of January l8th, the City Council met and was called to order at 10:00 AM. Councilmen present: Conrad, Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King. Councilmen absent: None. Paint Memofial On motion by Huston seconded by Butcher the staff work on Hall front front of the Memorial Hall was ordered painted. The work to be done by Higgins and Wells at their bid. of $53.00. Flowers $ Trees The Clerk read a letter from the Woman's Club urging the Council Ocean Avenue to have shrubs and flowers planted along Ocean Avenue. Matter ~` referred to Streets and Parks Committee for report. Golf Signs On :notion by Butcher seconded by Huston the City Clerk was authorized to have three signs 6x13 feet erected and painted for -' purpose of advertising the golf course. Work to be done at cost not to exceed $150.00. Demands Demands approved by the Finance Committee were approved and ordered paid on motion by Huston seconded by Stevens. Junk Matter of junk license application by Mr. Gloom was referred back to Chief of Police for his recommendation. Ordinance 349 The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 349, taxes, its second. and last reading, and on motion by Stevens seconded by King same was passed and adopted by the following Votes: 1 Ayes, Councilmen: Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad. Noes, Councilmen: None. Deed to Beach Attorney Blodget submitted tb the Council a deed of easement Front by the Iuntington Beach Company, Standard Oil Company, Pacific Electric Land Co. et al conveying to the City of Huntington Beach, certain beach front property lying between Main Street and the easterly city limits. Attorney Blodget informed the City Council that in addition to execution by the parties concerned, that it would be necessary to submit to the.Court for its approval. Resolution 659 Whereupon the Clerk read resolution No. 659, authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City. On motion by Stevens seconded by Huston Resalution No.659 was passed and . adopted by the following votes: 1 Ayes, Councilmen: Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad Noes, Councilmen: None. D� Roy White addressed the Council relative to the efforts and success of Attorney Blodget in securing the,beacn front for the people of Huntington Beach and recommended that the Council pass a resolution commending Attorney Blodget for his services. 112 At this time, City Clerk Furr asked to be excused, on motion by 'King seconded by Huston Councilman Butcher was appointed City Clerk and Clerk of the Council pro—tem. Atty fees After some discussion relative to matter of arriving at Beach Front fees to be paid Attorneys L.W.Blodget and Ray H. Overaker on account of beach front case, _resolution No. 660 was presented and read. On motion by Huston seconded by King Resolution 660 Res,olution'No. 660 aprointing Judge G. K. Scovel as arbitrator for the city was passed and adopted by the following vote; Ayes Councilmen; Butcher, Huston, King,.Conra.d Noes Councilmen; Stevens i Absent Councilmen; None On motion by Stevens seconded by Huston the Council adjourned.
