CITY Hall, Monday March 7th, 1932
The City Council met and was. called. to order at 7;30 PM by'
Mayor Conrad;
Councilmen present; Conrad-, Butcher, Huston, Stevens, King
Councilmen absent None
Stock yard The Clerk presented and read a petition signed by approximately
objection
65 citizens objecting to the fencing in and maintenance of a stock
yard on Delaware Avenue in -the vicinity of Utica Street.
On motion by King seconded by Butcher the -City Attorney was
directed to prepare and present an ordinance prohibiting the
maintenance of stock yards in the City of Huntington Beach.

The Clerk read monthly reports of the Treasurer, Clerk, Chief

of Police, Street Superintendent, Engineer and Police Judge, and
on motion by Stevens seconded by Huston same.were accepted and
ordered filed.
�'- Oil Station . permit On motion by Stevens seconded by Butcher the application of
Geo. W. Thagard to operate oil station at 12th and Olive was
approved.
Beach concession The application of D.W.Clapp for umbrella concession on the
beach was referred to the Beach Committee.
The City Clerk was directed to have the small safe at the
Safe
First State Bank moved to the City Hall.
Beach Concessions The Beach Committee stated no report on the application of
Chas. D. Anglin and L. Schwartz for beach concessions.
Horseshoe Club Councilman Huston asked for further time in which to make up
report and recommendations relative to use of the horseshoe club
hous e.
Demand,$ On motion -by Stevens seconded by Huston demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered. paid.
I'Pelfare Committee Mayor Conrad stated that he had heard that there was some dis-
satisfaction on the part of the Welfare committee in selecting men
for employment. Mrs. C.W.Patrick informed the council that every-
thing was going on satisfactorily and that the committee was not
asking to be relieved of its duties.

Ge BlodgeAttorney Webb informed the Council that he had no authority to
fees settle disputes between cities and their City Attorney in the

-4. matter of fees, and recommended that the matter be settled through

the courts if no better solution could be had.

Blodget s'fees On motion by Butcher seconded by Huston the demand of

City Attorney Blodget for $15,000-00 special fees for con-
ducting the beach suit, City of Huntington Beach vs Standard
Oil Co. et al, was denied.
Ordinance 351 The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 351, prohibiting the keeping
Live stock A of livestock in the city limits its first reading.
Ocean Ave Councilman King called attention of the the Council to
light poles numerous accidents on Ocean Avenue account automobiles
knocking down light poles and suggested that small reflectors
be placed.on the poles. On motion by Stevens seconded by
King the Superintendent of Streets was directed to purchase
and affix the reflectors on poles'on Ocean Avenue, south side.
On motion by Butcher seconded by Stevens the Council
adjourned.
