City Hall, Monday May 2d, 1932.
the regular meeting of the City Council was called to order
at 7:30 PM by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present;: Marion, Huston, Stevens, King,Conr ad.
Councilmen absent : None.
Minutes On motion by Huston seconded by Stevens minutes for the
month of March were approved. as read.
Monthl-iT report's _ The Clerk read monthly reports of the City Engineer, Street
Superintendent, City Judge, Chief of police, City Treasurer and
City Clerk, and on motion by Huston seconded by King same were
accepted and ordered filed.
Trees removed _ The reauest of William Cookerly to have trees removed in
front of Lots 6 and 8, Block 209 was referred to Superintendent of
Streets Wirth.

patrolmanKeller was confirmed by the Council on motion by Stevens seconded
by King. Appointment to be effective as of May 1st and to -continue
during the will and pleasure of the Council.
Life guards On oration by King seconded by Marion, Fire Chief Sargent was
er:ploy ed
authorized to employ Gene Belshe as life guard starting May first
and to continue until.September 15th. He was also given permission
to employ extra guard from June 1st until Labor Day at a salary not
to exceed $25.00 per week, also extra guards on holidays or other
special occasions when in his opinion the safety of the public re-
quired him to do so..
License approved - On motion by Huston seconded by Marion the application for
license of Harry Robinson to peddle fish bait west of loth street
and east of First street was approved.
Specicl Officer On motion by King seconded by Stevens the Chief of police
for Wier -
was authorized to deputize Ben H. Dulaney as special officer of
the pier to serve during the will and pleasure of the Council with
no compensation.
.Application to The application of Gladys B. Alden and Mr. Bateson to operate
operate beats Passenger and fish boat off the Municipal pier was again referred
to the Beach and Pier committee,and on motion by Stevens seconded
by King, the City Attorney was directed to draft contract between
the City and the above named parties.
The application of Emory Griffis to operate one or more
fishing and passenger boats from the Municipal Pier was referred
to the Beach and Pier committee.
Resolution No.666 _ The Clerk read Resolution No. 666 declaring a weed
nuisance to exist and on motion by King seconded by Stevens
same was passed and adopted by the following vote;
AYES; Councilmen Marion, Huston, King, Stevens, Conrad.
NOES; None.
Contract between City The Clerk read a contract between the American States
and. Amer. States
Water Ser. Co. Water Service Company.and the City of Huntington Beach in which
water rates on fire hydrant service was materially reduced.
On motion by King seconded by Huston the Mayor and City Clerk
were authorized to sign same in behalf of the City..
Application to erect The application of Reverend M.A.Wood to erect a gospel

tent and conduct public meetings on Lots 9 and 10, Block 1002,
Vista Del Mar was referred to the Police and Fire Committee.
Sewer line clogged - Mr. Chas. Andrews appeared before.the Council and com-

26 and 28, Block 306. The matter was referred to Street Super-
intendent Wirth for his attention.
On motion by Stevens seconded by Huston demands approved
by the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
The Council adjourned until Monday May 9th, 10:00 AM, on
motion by Stevens seconded by Huston.
