Councilmen present; Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Coin ad. Councilmen absent None. - Letters read rP_ The Clerk read a number of letters from independent oil questing red'uotivii of liven -se on operators requesting that the city derrick license be reduced to Oil del:rick-s $$12.00 per year. The matter was referred to the Oil and Industry Committee. City books & records The Clerk informed the Council that he had not secured return ll✓l" Yy f0riher Attly Blodget of City books and records from former City Attorney L. W. Blodget and that Mr. Blodget had declined to return transcripts of the San Diego case. On motion by Huston seconded by Marion the City Clerk was directed. to notify Mr. Blodget that he might have triTty days within which to make copies of transcript after which time the original must be returned to the City of Huntington Beach. reed nuisance This being the day set for hearing protests against the Council's resolution to abate the weed nuisance, the Clerk informed the Council that no written or verbal protest had been received., On motion by King seconded by Stevens the Superintendent of Streets was directed to abate the nuisance in accordance with law and the Counci-l's resolution. Deftiands On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. �. Macklin addresses James Macklin addressed the Council and requested that derrick Council - license be reduced. Life—guarH Station On motion by Huston seconded by Marion the Beach and Pier Committee were authorized to proceed with the building of a life— guard station at a cost not to exceed 4$480.00 in accordance with sketch presented by the Engineering Department. Fireworks oruinaiice The City Clerk was directed to write the 'cities of Seal Beach and Manhattan Beach and secure copies of their fireworks ordinance governing the sale of same. On motion by King seconded by Marion the Council adjourned. v City Clerk and Ex—officio Clerk of the City Council.
