City Hall, Monday June 20th, 1932
Pursuant to adjournment of June 13th the Council met and was
called to order by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present; Marion,Huston,Stevens,King,Conra,d.
Councilmen absent ; None
American Legion, The Clerk read a resolution of the American Legion in which it

was recommended that all work performed in Orange County and material
furnished insofar as possible be done and provided by Orange County
people. The Clerk was directed to advise the American Legion that the
City Council was in sympathy with their recommendations.
Application for Application of the Stanley Hotel for refund of license was

Donation to unem : The Clerk read a letter from the Association of Unemployed

requesting that the City Council contribute 50.00 per week to
furnish food for needy families. On motion by Huston seconded by
Stevens $200.00 was appropriated to be paid out in weekly payments
of $50.00 a week.
Petition asking The Clerk read a petition signed by a number of local hotel
for reduction .
in hotel and rooming house owners asking that the Council reduce the license
license
rate on hotels and apartment houses to $6.00 per year instead of
$12.00. Matter referred to the Finance Committee.
Appointment of On motion by Huston seconded by Stevens the appointment by
E.A.Shaf'fer
Chief Keller of E.A.Shaffer as extra policeman until August 31st
at a salary of $120.00 per month was approved.
Application for The application of C.C.Elder for license to operate lunch
license
stand on the municipal pier was referred. to the Beach and.Pier
Committee.
Oidinarice #352 The Clerk gave Ordinance #352, amending license ordinance,
its second and final reading and on motion by King seconded by
Huston Ordinance #3/52 was passed and adopted by the following vote}
AYES; Councilmen Marion, Huston,Stevens,King, Conrad.
NOES: None .:.
ABSENT; None.
Ordinance #353 The Clerk gave Ordinance #353,, amending the derrick license,
its second and final reading and on motion by King seconded by
Stevens same was passed and adopted by the following vote;
AYES; Councilmen I4Ma.rion, Stevens,Huston,King,Conrad.

Water fog• vege- ?fir. Frye and Mr. Harry Stephenson addressed the Council and
table t;a.rden
stated that the American States Water Service Company had agreed
to donate one-half of the water charges to be used for a vegetable
garden in the vicinity of Main and Wesley. They asked that* the
City Council agree to appropriate an amount equal to half the
charge for water for this garden, the total of which would Probably
be about $105.00. The Council verbally agreed to this.
Harry Stephenson called attention of the Council.to the -
fact that the county had ceased to assist the needy families of
Huntington Beach and asked that the Council take the matter up /
with the Board of Supervisors, this the Council agreed to do.
Application to The application of Cecil Oliver for. -permit to operate stands

adjoining the Coffee Cup Cafe was referred to the Fire and Police
Chiefs for their recommendation.
Resolution #669'. The Clerk read Resolution No. 669 as amended covering charges
for the use of Memorial Hall. On motion by King seconded by Huston
same was passed and. adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None.
Demands On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion demands approved by
the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Improvement under Assistant Engineer Overmyer informed. the Council that it would
pier
cost approximately $2150.00 for proposed improvements under the
easterly end of.the municipal pier. After some discussion, on motion
by Stevens.seconded by Huston the Engineering Department was directed
to Proceed with the construction of a wind break at a cost not to
exceed $490.00.
Council invited Chief of Police Keller invited the members of the City Council
to Peace
Officered to attend the Orange County Peace Officers' meeting to be held in
meeting ,
Memorial. Hall Wednesday evening July 6th.
Council adjourned on motion by King seconded by Huston.
