MINUTES
City Hall, Monday August 18t, 1932
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order
at 7;30 P.M. by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present; Conrad, Marion, Huston,Stevens, King.
Councilmen absent ; None
Minutes The Clerk read minutes for the month of July, and on motion
by King seconded by Marion same were approved.
Reports The Clerk read regular monthly reports of the City Engineer,
Sup't. of Streets, City Judge, Chief of Police, City Clerk and City
Treasurer and on motion by Stevens seconded by King same were accepted
and ordered filed.
Painting City The Clerk read an estimate by Higgins and Wells for painting a
Hall interior
portion of the interior of the City Hall. This was referred to the
Building1C0ommittee for their.recommendations.
Mayor Conrad informed the Council that he and Councilman Huston
attended a meeting of Mayors of Orange County at 1:30 P.M. this date
in Santa Ana. The purpose of the meeting being to consider means of
securing from the County Board of Supervisors 'a portion of the State
State gas
Tax Igasoline tax for the use of cities of Orange County. The Clerk read
a1resolution passed at the above named meeting, also a resolution of
the City Council approving the action of the Orange County Mayors and
on motion by King seconded by Stevens Resolution No. 673 was passed
and adopted by the following vote;
AYES; Councilmen Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
NOES; None

ment was directed to proceed with constructing roof over substructure
under the municipal pier, easterly side at a cost not to exceed $275.00.-
On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion, demands approved by
the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Mayor Conrad submitted a map showing district adjoining the
Northerly and Northwesterly boundaries of the City, and expressed
the belief,"that on account of requests of citizens in the district
outlined, that the Council should consider annexation of the territory
in the event a petition should be presented to that effect. The
district proposed is bounded by Hampshire Avenue from Clay to Five Points,
thence in a stral.ght line Westerly to the Southern Pacific railroad,
thence southerly to Garfield Avenue, thence Westerly to Westminister
Avenue, thence Southerly to Summit, thence Easterly along Summit and
Clay to Hampshire, the point of beginning.

On motion by.King seconded by Stevens the matter was
referred to the City Attorney for investigation and report
at next meeting.
New'Post office The Clerk presented and read Resolution/No. 674 calling
building
attention of Senator Samuel M. Shortridge to the fact that
Huntington Beach was badly in need of a new post office building
and urging the Senator to use his influence in securing the $80,000
now allotted by Congress for such a structure in Huntington Beach.
On motion by Huston seconded by King Resolution No. 674
was passed and adopted by the following vote..
AYES: Councilmen Mation,Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
NOES: None
Leak in water line Councilman King called attention to a leak in the American
Lake & Olive
Otates Water Service Company lines at the intersection of Lake
Street and Olive Avenue. The Clerk.was directed to write the
water company and urge them to renew the old wooden line at that
place. "
Beach phone The matter of installing telephone for life guards on the
beach was referred to the Beach and Pier Committee.
Irterooean case Attorney Overacker informed the Council that a hearing on
demurrer case Interocean Oil Company vs City of Huntington Beach
would come up Friday August 5th.
On motion by King seconded by Marion the Council adjourned
until 10:00 A.M. Monday August 8th, 1932.
