M I N U T E S
City Hall Monday, August Sth, 1932
Pursuant to adjournment of August 1st, the Council met
and was called to order at 10:00 A.M. by Mayor Conrad.
:. Councilmen present: Conrad, Marion, Huston,Stevens, Ring.
Councilmen absent : None.
Recess The Council recessed until 10:50 A.M.
The Council was called to order at 10:50 A.M., all members
present.
Painting .City On motion by Huston seconded by Stevens, the City Clerk
Hall
was authorized and directed to have the Council Chamber side walls,
hall walls and stairway walls and ceilings on both ground and second
floors painted at a total cost not to exceed $75.00,
Beac%i Phones Matter of installing telephone on the beach was laid over
for the season.
Interoccan case Attorney Overacker advised the Council that the.Interocean
case was to come up for hearing on demurrer Friday August 12th, 1932.
Annexation Attorney Overacker informed the Council that in the event
petitions were received for annexing certain districts to the City,
it would be best to proceed under the 1913 Act. The Council asked -
the City Attorney to continue the investigation and report further.
Hoof under On motion by Stevens seconded by Huston, the Engineering

Department was directed to proceed with the construction of a roof
over the westerly side of the pier substructure.
The application for license by Lillian Evans, Virginia
Hotel was approved on motion by Huston seconded by King.
Tables Horse- On motion -by Stevens seconded by Marion the Controller
shoe club
was authorized to purchase the three tables now in use at the
Horse Shoe Club building and belonging to the Club.
Oil Lease 30ft The Clerk presented and read a letter signed by Max
strip Ocean Ave.
Felix, Attorney of Los Angeles and addressed to the Board of Trustees
of the City of Huntington Beach relative to a report that the Pacific
Exploration Company, Ltd., was off ering for sale a purported oil
lease covering the southwesterly 30 feet of Ocean Avenue extending
from 23rd street to the Westerly city limits. That the Huntington
Beach Company would challenge the validity of such a lease if made.

There being no objections, the Chair ordered the letter
At this time, 11:30 A.M. the Chair inquired if any one in.
the audience had any matters to bring before the Council. No response.
Demand
On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion demands approved
by the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Recess The Chair declared a recess until 1:30 P.M. this date.
Inzerocean Oil The Council was again called to order at 1::45 P.M., all

members of Council present and after some discussion relative to
the Interocean Oil Company suit against the City the Chair declared
A recess at 1:50 P.M. until 3::00 P.M. this date.

of the Council present.
No business was transacted, and with the consent of the
Council the Chair declared a recess until 4:00 p.M.
The Council was called to order at 4:00 P.M. by the
Mayor. All members of the Council present. There being no
business transacted and no objections the Chair declared a recess
until 6:30 P.M. this date.
The Councilmen met in executive session at 6:30 P.M.,
and the Council was called to order at 9:10 P.M...

Councilmen absent : Stevens.
On motion by Marion seconded by King demands approved by
the Finance Committee were ordered paid.
On motion by,King seconded by Huston the Council ad,
journed.until 3:00 P.M., Tuesday August 9th, 1932.
