HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-09-19M I N U T E S City Hall, Monday Sept. 19th, 1932. Pursuant to adjournment of September 6th, the City Council met and was called to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Conrad. Councilmen present: Marion, Huston,Stevens,King, Conrad. Councilmen absent: None. Memo Hall The Clerk presented and read a letter from Father Genest of rentals the Catholic Church petitioning the Council to reduce rental rates of the Memorial Hall from present rate of $10.00 per night to $5.00 per night. Armistice Day A letter from the.American Legion post of Fullerton requesting •:_ band ;1 the services of the Huntington Beach Band for Armistice day Nov. llth was read, and on motion by Huston seconded by Stevens the request + was granted, cost not to exceed $175.00. Merchants -show The request of the Huntington Beach merchants, signed by the H.B. Business Men's Association, for use of the Memorial Hall three or more days to display merchandise was granted,on motion by King seconded by Stevens. Resolution ivo.6b0 The Clerk read Resolution No. 680, .eridorsing Initiative measure No. 11, tideland grant to City of Huntington Beach, and on motion by King seconded by Huston same was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Marion, Huston, King, Conrad. NOES: Stevens ABSENT: None. Resolution No.6-a1 Resolution No. 681 accepting deed to portions of lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 404 V.D.M., was read by the Clerk and on motion by Stevens seconded by Marion same was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Marion, Huston,Stevens, King, Conrad. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. Getty Bond On motion by King seconded by Huston the Surety Bond of Geo. F. Getty Co., Electrical contractors, was accepted and ordered placed on file. Derrick The matter of unsafe derrick located on Lot 7, Block 314 as Block 314 reported by Asst. Engineer Overmyer, was referred to the City Attorney for investigation and report at next meeting. League of On motion by King seconded by Stevens, Mayor Conrad and Municipalities Councilman Huston were appointed as delegates to the League of Municipalities to be held on September 26th to 29th inclusive at San Diego. Other heads of departments and Councilmen invited to attend a portion of the time if convenient. y:J 166 ,1 F ResCI'wtion Ord. ivo.355 Golf pai nt i rg Interocean Case De«iands The Clerk presented and read Resolution No. 682 reducing rates for use of Memorial Hall, and on motion by Stevens seconded by King same was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad. NOES: Councilman Marion ABSENT: None. The Clerk gave Ordinance No, 355 amending License Ordinance its first reading at this time. On motion by King seconded by Stevens, Manager of the Golf. Course John Africa was authorized to remit green fees for the interclub ladies golf teams, tournaments to be held on the Huntington Beach.course once in each month. Other clubs interested are Willowick and Long Beach 9-hole course. Matter of painting interior of Judges and Engine@r's office referred to the building committee. Atzorney Overacker informed the Council that matter of demurrer, Interocean Oil. Company case called for Friday Sept. 23rd, 1932. Demands approved by the Finance Committee were approved on.motion by Stevens seconded by Huston. On motion by Stevens seconded by King the Council adjourned.
