HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-11-21173 M I N U T E S City Hall, November 21st, 1932. Pursuant to adjournment of November 9th, the City Council met and was called to order at 10:00 AM by Mayor Conrad. Marion Councilmen present; Conrad, Huston,.Stevens, King. absent Councilmen absent t Marion. Mr. J.E.MeManus addressed the Council relative to unemployed, also presented a letter stating that the Unemployed Association was agreeable to furnishing 75 days labor to the City per month in return for $300.00. The funds to be used for purchasing living necessities for destitute families of the City. Mr. McManus stated that he and Mr. T.J.Archibald composed the committee from the Unemployed Association, and that a list of the number of families being helped would be furnished the City. The City Clerk was directed to have such list prepared. The City Attorney was directed to prepare the proper release of wages form. League of On motion by King seconded by Huston the City Clerk was Municipalities directed to return the $75.00 annual bill of the League of Munici— palities and inform them that the City did not care to pay the bill, owing to the present financial stress throughout the country. Doll Hotel On motion by Stevens seconded by King the application for license by the Doll Hotel was not approved, and same referred back to the Chief of Police. License On motion by Huston seconded by Stevens, the application of C.W.Myberg to operate auto repair shop and used car sales at 329 main Street,'and the application of Mrs. E. Hull to operate 1 restaurant at 427 Main Street were,approved. The application of Harry Bakre,, Golden Bear Cafe for license Beer and bvire application to retail beer and wine was placed on file. Garden Club windsor Club On motion by Stevens seconded by King, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered. paid. Councilman Huston recommended that the matter of planting shrubs around the Municipal Memorial Hall be deferred until after January 1st, 1933• The matter of furnishing location for the Windsor Club building was referred to the Streets and Parks Committee with power to act. proper lease to be drawn up by the City Attorney upon request of the Streets and Parks Committee.
