Councilmen present; Conrad, Marion, Huston, Stevens, King. Councilmen absent None. Mirfafes Onmotion by King seconded by Marion the minutes for the month of November were approved. AXARd Upon recommendation of the Fire Chief, all bids were rejected except the bid of pioneer Rubber Company andtheir bid of 70 cents for Western D J was accented on motion by King seconded by Stevens, put -.. and unanimously carried. 2mas Fund .The request of the Volunteer Fire Department for $200.00 to Fire Dept. held defray expense of Christmas presents and food for needy was referred .to the Music and Promotion Committee. Monthly reports The Clerk read monthly reports of the City Treasurer, City Clerk, City Judge, Chief of Police, Engineering Department and Sup't of Streets, and. on motion by Huston seconded by King same were accepted and ordered filed. 176 :�'iiie and. Beer The application`s" r,of the Stanley Hotel, Rotary Cafe and Cecil applications Oliver for permits to sell beer and wine were ordered filed. License The application of Harry Robinson for renewal of license to +� sell fish bait was,on motion by Stevens seconded by Marion, approved and ordered issued. Pinochle Club The request of the pinochle Club to allow them to change the name of the Club to "Huntington Beach Municipal Social Club" was ordered filed and the City Clerk directed to notify the Club not to use the word "Municipal". ; Christmas Tree On motion by•Huston seconded by Stevens the Fire Department were given permission to erect Christmas tree at -the center of the intersection of Main Street and Walnut Avenue during the Christmas � Holidays. Advertising On motion by Huston seconded by King the council appropriated the sum of $40.00 for one-half page advertising in the Huntington Beach News.annual edition. On mention by Stevens seconded by Marion the Council appro- priated the sum of $60.00 for one -eight page advertising in the Long Beach.press-Telegram annual edition. Gasoline The matter of a resolution relative to distribu-tion of the Tax State Gasoline tax was referred to the City Clerk to get in com- munication.with State Senator Nels Edwards and Assemblyman Ted Craig and`J.L.McBride and secure their recommendations. Post Office The Clerk read a recommendation signed by approximately Site 105 citizens to the effect that they desired the new proposed post office building be located at the North Easterly corner of Main Street and Olive Avenue. Communication ordered file.. Deiiiands On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. rvindsor Club Councilman King informed the Council that lots 33 and 35 Block 810 Wesley Park section had been selected as a site for the Windsor Club building. S-t. Opening permits City Attorney Overacker was requested to confer with Street Superintendent Wirth and prepare an amendment to Ordinance governing permit fees for excavating in streets. VacationsOn motion by Stevens -seconded by Huston the Fire Chief Sargent was granted a vacation December 20th to 31st. On motion by King seconded by Huston Chief of Police Keller was granted vacation December 7th to 21st.
