Councilmen present; Conrad,Marion,Huston,Stevens, King. Councilmen absent None. Minutes On motion by King seconded by Huston the Minutes for the month of January were approved as read. Petition The Clerk presented and read a petition signed by a number of residents and taxpayers living in the Vista Del Mar district in which the Councills attention was called to the inadequate water pressure in that district. Whereupon on motion by King seconded by Huston the City Engineer was directed to get in touch with the engineer of the American States Water Service 'Company and go,over the situation with a view of laying larger mains where needed in the east side residence district.. Monthly r ports The Clerk read monthly reports -of the City Treasurer, City Clerk, City Engineer, Superintendent of Streets, Chief of Police and City Judge for the month of January and on motion by Huston seconded.by King same were accepted and ordered filed. Chamber, of -The application of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce Commerce for $1000.00 to cover advertising expenditures for the ensuing year was referred to the Finance Committee for their report at the next meeting. Request for The request of the Library Board for an appropriation of appropriation ♦; for linoleum for $500.00 to renew linoleum on the floor of the Library was re - Library f erred to the Finance Committee. Lumber Yard On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion, the application ' of Roy Johnson to operate a lumber yard. inside the building at 210 - 3rd Street was approved. Building code The Clerk read a letter signed by Assistant Engineer revision of . y. Overmyer relative to revision of the building code. This matter was ief erred to the Finance and Building Committees for ':D,their recommendation at the next meeting. -� Ambulance The matter of the City's accepting title to the ambulance now owned and operated by A.H.Dixon, undertaker, for the purpose of allowing the installation of a siren on the ambulance was re- ferred to City Attorney Overacker for his opinion and report at next meeting. Golf lease On motion by King seconded by Stevens the Mayor and City Clerk executed were authorized to execute golf lease contract in its amended 1�" form between Stricklin and Stricklin and the City of Huntington Beach. 1S4 Al Offer for Lots 1,2 and 3, Blk 301.. Stop signs installed Beach Front On motion by Huston seconded by Marion the offer of $250.00 by Joe Palladino for the purchase of a portion of Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 301 was accepted, payable_$25.00 cash and the balance at the rate of $25.00 per month, plus interest at 7fo. The motion authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the contract on behalf of the Ci ty. Chief of Police Keller informed the Council that stop signs were being placed on Ocean Avenue at the intersection.of Main, First and Eighth Streets as per their instructions at a former meeting. Mr. C. G. Ward addressed the Council relative to the annex- ation of the beach front between the eastern city limits -to the mouth of the Santa Ana river and recommended that action be taken to annex this strip. No action was taken by the Council pending an investigation and a more detailed report.. Car for waste Upon the recommendation of Councilman Marion the Street avater inspector Department was directed to furnish Waste Water Inspector with a Model "T" Ford car to be used in connection with his work for Demands the Ci ty. On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion demands approved by the finance committee were ordered paid.
