M I N U T E S
City Hall, Monday March 27th, 1933.
Pursuant to adjournment of March 22nd, the City Council
met and was called to order at 10:00_AM by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present: Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
Councilmen absent : None.

Hall
adjourned to Memorial Hall on account of structural damage caused
On motion by Stevens, seconded by Marion the Council
to the City Hall by earthquake March loth.
All members of the Council being present the Council was
called to order in the Memorial Hall at 10:10 AM Monday March 27th.
Beach Lease The Clerk read lease to D: K. Clapp covering locations for
umbrella stands on the beach, and on motion by King seconded by
Huston the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute same on
behalf of the city of Huntington Beach.
Pier Conaession On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion the City Council
Lease
accepted the assignment of lease from C.A.Manges to C. K. Morrison
and directed the city attorney to prepare a new lease in the name
of C.K.Morrison co.vering.-stand formerly occupied by C..A.Manges.
Stand to be used for the sale of live bait'; soft drinks and
barge tickets. Term of lease to be for a period. of three years.
Beer License The applications of Fairy Hanson, 409 Walnut Avenue, and
Hannah U. Weitz, 2291 Main Street, for beer sales license were
ordered filed.
Delinquent businessThe Clerk called the attention of the Council to the fact
& Derrick license
that there were still delinquent a great many business and derrick
license. The matter was referred to the City Attorney for his
advice at meeting of the City Council April 3rd.
Building Inspector Overmyer informed the Council that a
full report of damage by earthquake would be filed within a day
or two. Also that he was proceeding with repairs to the Library
building and that cost would be approximately $500.00. That
the library would be open to the public by April 3rd.
Derricks Councilman Marion said that he had investigated condition
of derricks referred to by Mr. Hager and.that he had found them
safe. The Council instructed building inspector Overmyer to
confer with Mr. Hager and advise him of the findings of himself
and the Council.
Baseball Councilman King asked that matter of reply to D.O.
Stewart's request for $40.00 for baseball club be deferred until

April 3rd meeting of the Council.

Beach camp On motion by Stevens seconded by King the City Clerk.
was directed to advertise for bids for the construction of
building and fully equipped rest room, framed structure to
be located on the municipally owned beach on or near the
southeasterly line of First Street easement:
Also to advertise for bids for leasing a plot of beach
approximately 800 feet in length beginning at a point 400
feet easterly from .the easterly line of First Street
easement and extending approximately 400 feet westerly from
said easterly line of First Street. This plot to be equipped
with regulation rest rooms, lease to -run for a period of
one year.
Also, to advertise for bids -for leasing a plot of beach
1600 feet in length beginning at a point 400 feet easterly
from the easterly line of First Street easement and ex-
tending easterly 1600 feet. Lessee to equip grounds with
the necessary rest -rooms as required by law and such other
equipment as required in the plans and specifications of
the engineering department.
Bids to be opened and examined at 10:00 AM Monday
April 17th, 1933,

extend westerly from First Street
easement.

The Clerk gave Ordinance
No. 360 repealing all
intoxicating liquor ordinances its first reading at this
time.
Lemainds On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion demands
approved by the Finance Committee were.ordered paid.
On motion by Huston seconded by King the Council
adjourned until 10:00 AM,Tuesday March 28th, 1933.
