M I N U T E S
Council Chamber, Tuesday March 28th,1933.
Pursuant to adjournment of March 27th, the City Council
met and was called to order at 10:00 AM by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present: Conrad, Marion,Huston,Stevens,King.
Councilmen absent ; None.
Beer License The Clerk read application of Claude Frederick,126 Main
Street and Charles B. Tipton, 914`Ocean Avenue for license to
sell beer. Same were ordered filed.
arthquake The Clerk read report of Clyde N. Dirlam, structural
report
engineer of 1184 N. Berendo Street, Los Angeles, covering damage
to city buildings and municipal pier caused by the earthquake
of March loth, also suggested methods of repair.
On motion by King seconded by Marion the report was
accepted and ordered filed. The City Engineer department and
building inspector were directed to proceed with preliminary
repairs to the municipal pier by the installation of two
inch bolts as recommended in the above named report. All
other repairs to pier to be Yield up pending means for financing
the work.
Mr. Smith of the California Gunite Corporation informed
the Council that it would take from 5 to 10 days to complete
all gunite work, provided the work was begun before too much
damage by the elements occurred. Building inspector Overmyer
stated that the estimated cost of repairs would be approximately
$5,000.00 provided greater damage was not revealed upon further
inspection.

the Council and asked permission to plant trees, shrubs and
flowers on the municipally owned beach front. The matter was
referred to the Beach and Pier Committee for investigation and
report.
;gale of old street On motion by Huston seconded by Marion the City Clerk

was authorized to sell to the Orange County Road Department a
used asphalt mixer and elevator for the sum of $200.00.
Library repairs On motion by King seconded by Huston the Library Board
was authorized to proceed immediately with repairs to the
library building on account of damage by earthquake. Work to be
under the supervision of the City building inspector Overmyer.
Ot1ee+,s Mr. C.F.Patrick reported that. there were earthquake
cracks in Frankfort Street where it joins with Hampshire.

The engineering and street department heads were directed to
make inspection and report back with their recommendations.
On motion by King seconded by Stevens the Council
adjourned.
