City Hall, Thursday May 18th, 1933•
Pursuant to adjournment of May 10th, the City Council met and
was called. to order -at 10:00 AM by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present: Conrad, Huston, Stevens, King.
Councilmen absent : Marion.
Beach Camp After some discussion relative to the proposed beach camp site,
Mayor Conrad recommended that the matter be referred to the beach
committee of the City Council. This was satisfactory to the committees
of the American Legion, Business Men's Association and Chamber of
Commerce. It was also recommended .that this committee meet with the
City Attorney at 1:70 pad and discuss the form of contract to be
entered into.
Application to On motion by Huston seconded by King, the application of Earl

vegetable stand at the rear of 520 Ocean Avenue was approved provided
the building either be on the rear of the lot or facing Sixth Street
near the rear of the lot.

517 - 6th Street, was referred back to the Chief of police.
Demanus On motion by Stevens seconded by King, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Assembly Bill Mayor Conrad informed the Council that he and Councilman King
No.1201 had attended a meeting at Newport Beach, the purpose of which was to
discuss Assembly Bill No.1201, known as the Santa Ana Basin Water Bill.
At this meeting it was decided that each city opposing the bill should
send its Mayor and one Councilman to Sacramento to appear before the

Governor and use their best efforts to have the Governor veto the bill.
On motion b3•Huston seconded by Stevens, Mayor Conrad and„Councilman
King were appointed to attend the above named meeting if deemed

advisable.
Fire hazard in Fire Chief Sargent called the Council's attention to the fact
oil field
that boilers were being built dangerously close to tanks filled with
oil and suggested that an ordinance be passed which would require oil
companies to build a protective wall either around the boiler or tanks.
The City Clerk was directed to secure copies of similar ordinances from
Long Beach, Signal Hill, Venice and elsewhere.
