Pursuant to adjournment of May l8th, the City Council'.met and was called to order' -?yy Mayor Conrad. 1 o Cv t �- Councilmen present: Marion, Huston, King, Stevens, Conrad. Councilmen absent : None. ;oac1l IV' a.«►p The City Clerk presented and read a proposed agreement covering the construction and.operation of a beach camp ground. Same was referred back to the Chamber of Commerce, Business Men's Association and.American Legion .Committees for further recommendations. The Clerk gave Ordinance #364, amending derrick license, its T i1` s t %eati'lii{u' first reading at this time. x��AS At this time, 11:00 AM, the Council recessed until 12:10 PM. Council again stalled to order at 12:10 PM; all members of the Council present. After a short discussion relative to leasing certain streets. for oil drilling the Council again recessed until 3:30 PM. Council called to order at 3:30 PM; all members of .the Council present'. On motion by Stevens seconded by King, the bid of.Lyndon Wells Painting POliue Dept• for painting the rooms of the Police Department for the sum of $100.00 was accepted. The application of John W. Sullivan to operate cafe at 1720' Cafe at 17;2u occau Ocean Avenue was referred to the Oil Committee for investigation and report. Y yoi+ Fite The recommendation of D.E.Burry, Secretary of the Huntington Beach Volunteer Fire Department, that the department be allowed to meet each Monday night was referred to Fire Chief Sargent for his recommendation. Lights on Pier The Clerk read a letter from the Huntington Beach Business Men's Association requesting the Council to turn on all lights on y the pier and the arch lights until 11:00 PM. This.was referred to the Superintendent of Streets Wirth for an estimate of the additional cost. Wallace for No. 1 License to sell beer at 222 Elmira Street was approved. Councilman present; Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad. Councilman absent ; None. Plc0'gQG d The Clerk read a communication from Wood Callahan Oil Company oil leace, :< of Long Beach in which they proposed to enter into a lease with the City of Huntington Beach to drill one oil well each on the following streets between Ocean Avenue and Walnut Avenue, i.e., 19th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd Streets. Lease to provide a 25% royalty to the City and drilling to start within 45 days from the date of execution of the lease. w On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion the communication was ordered filed. The Clerk presented and read a communication from A. M. Kupf er, �v 116N No. La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, in which the writer proposed to enter into a lease with the City to drill two oil wells on each of the following streets, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd streets, lease to cover the above named streets between Ocean and Walnut Avenues. This lease to provide a 27 % royalty to the City and drilling 'to start within 30 days of execution of the lease. On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion, the communication was ordered. filed. At this. time 11:50 AM, the Council recessed until 2:30 PM. The Council was again called to order at 2:30 PM; all members being present.
