City Hall, Wednesday May 31st, 1933.
Pursuant to adjournment.of .May 26th, the City Council
met and was called to order by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present; Marion, Huston, Stevens, Conrad.
Councilmen absent ; King. ... `` pp fj
BCacii Camp Councilman Fusion, Chairman of the Beach Committee, informed
the Council that he had had a meeting with the various committees
interested in beach camping and that he recommended the city install
toilets and operate the camp ground during the coming season. On
Motion by Huston seconded by Mation the Engineering Department and
Street Department were directed to prepare the beach front and
proceed to install toilets and equipment.
At this time, 10;30 AM, Councilman King arrived.
Bud Hi, gins _ In accordance with recommendations of Fire Chief Sargent,

Bud Higgins was employed as lifeguard, commencing June 1st at a
salary of $4.00 per day, this on motion by Huston seconded by King.
On motion by King seconded by Huston, the appointment of
Gene Belshe —
fia-eic,aa Gene Belshe as regular fireman at $130.00 per. month was approved

by the Council.
Apvl. for cafe On motion by Marion seconded by Stevens, the application of
a-onio v ed
John W. Sullivan to operate a cafe at 1720 Ocean Avenue was
approved.
1Voiulitce-r— Upon recommendation of Fire Chief Sargent and on motion by
Huston seconded by King, the Volunteer Fire Department was given
permission to drill four nights per month for the months of June,
July and August, only.

neer Overmyer with instructions to confer with Mr. Clapp and report
at next meeting.
Golf Go -arse The Clerk read a license agreement between the City of
Huntington Beach and Stricklin and Stricklin in which the golf course
and equipment were leased to Stricklin and--Stricklin for a period of
2-,� years. On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion, the Mayor and
City Clerk were authorized to sign and execute same.

On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion, the Engineering
Department was directed to install a temporary telephone line
and telephones on the outer.end of the municipal pier at a cost
not to exceed $12.00.
The Clerk presented and read Resolution No. 690 opposing
Senate Bill 1201, and on motion by Stevens seconded by King,
same was passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: "councilmen Marion, Huston, Stevens King, Conrad.
NOES: None.
The Clerk was directed to mail a copy of the above
resolution to the Governor and also to send a telegram bearing
the signatures of each of the Councilmen to the same effect.
On motion by Stevens seconded by Marion, the Council
adjourned.
