HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-06-22230 'i M I N U T E S City Hall, Thursday June 22d, 1933 Pursuant to adjournment of June 16th,: the City Council , met and was called to order at 10:00 AM by Mayor Conrad. Councilmen present: Conrad, Marion,-:S,teveng;,')King.., Councilmen absent Ruston. SO -Counties Gas The Clerk read a letter from the Southern Counties Gas Co.request for refund of ljo Company calling the attention of the Council to payments of gas sales license lw¢ license on gas sales, and requesting that the city make refunds on account of alleged overpayments. Matter referred to the City Attorney for his recommendations at next meeting. ;tan dafd Gasoline Councilman Marion informed the Council that he had in- p;-r-in i t vestigated the plant of the Standard Gasoline Company and finds that they carry a pressure not to exceed 40 pounds and that they carry no storage, therefore he recommended that a license be granted for them to operate, provided they muffle the sound. This the gasoline company agrees to do. On motion by Stevens seconded by King the license was approved. East Giue Mayor Conrad stated that work had begun on improvement of ""atdr- water service on the east side of the City. Mr. Wirth stated that satisfactory progress was being made on improvement of the beach camp grounds. The Clerk was directed to look into the matter of insurance protection and report back at next meeting. Tax Adv. City Attorney dveracker was asked to advise the Council at next meeting whether or not it will be necessary to re -advertise delinquent taxes in accordance with the provisions of the moratorium act. St. Bonds The Clerk informed the Council that there was insufficient i915 Act funds available to cover payments of the 1915 bonds redeemable on July 2nd. Matter referred to the City Attorney for advise at next meeting. Reso. 692 The Clerk read a resolution of condolence expressing sympathy Funeral of City TreaSureron account of the death of City Treasurer Harvey S. Young and i-iarvey S Young. providing for closing the City Offices from 12 noon to 5 PM Friday, June 23rd. On motion by King seconded by Stevens same was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Manion, Steven,Kirig, :Conrad, NOES: Councilmen - none ABSENT: Councilman Huston. The Clerk was directed to notify the National Surety Company of Mr. Young's death. On motion: by King seconded byStev'ers, the Council adjourned i] i 1 10 1 until 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 25th,1933.
