City Hall, Thursday July 6th,1933.
' {
Pursuant to adjournment of July 3rd, 1933, the City Council
met and was called to order at 10:00 AM by Mayor Conrad,
Councilmen present; Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
Councilmen absent ; None.
Demands lsc of
On motion�by King seconded by Marion, the City Clerk was
wont h only
directed to present demands to the council for payment on the
first meeting of each month, and at no other meeting except in

extreme emergency, and then only at the mid monthly meeting.

The Clerk read a letter from the Sparklets Water Company
asking for a lower license rate on bottled water. The matter
was referred to the City Attorney with instructions to amend license
Becr surtax
ordinance making the annual rate on bottled water $16.00. Also
to amend beer ordinance by repealing the surtax provision.
Reoorts
The Clerk read annual report of the Fire Chief, Monthly reports
of the Chief of Police, City Judge, Superintendent of Streets;
Engineer, Building inspector, City Treasurer and City Clerk and,
on motion by Huston seconded by Stevens, same were accepted and
ordered filed.

The application of Steffens Amusement Company to operate
Ferris wheel and for license to operate same was approved, on
motion by Marion seconded by King.
Police Matron
On motion by Huston seconded by Stevens, the ap-,)ointment of
& Junior Police
Elma Robidoux as police matron at the rate of $2.50 per call;
and the appointment of Jack Brewster, Woodrow Honold, Reginald
Pate, George Honold', and Edwin Tinsley as Junior Police, with-
out compensation was approved.
Bond
The Surety Bond of Charles S. Clarke and J. H. Stockton,
plumbers was approved and ordered filed, on motion by King
seconded by Marion.
Appoiat-nielit of
Mayor Conrad informed the City Council that it was the duty

of the Council to appoint a city treasurer to fill the unexpired
term of the late Harvey S. Young; whereupon, on motion by
Councilman Stevens, seconded by Councilman Huston, put and un-
animously carried, BAYARD BUTCHER was appointed City Treasurer
to fill the unexpired term, or until the next general city
election, as provided. by lane for cities of the sixth' class.

j ly 4t.L Wm. Gallienne, chairman of the 4th of July Committee„
appeared before the Council and asked for $100.00 to held,
defray expense of.the July 4th celebration. On motion by
King seconded by Huston, the request was granted.
Hard :rater The City Clerk was directed to write the American
States Water Company and protest against their furnishing
city water from the well located near intersection of
Huntington Avenue and Summit Street.
On motion by King seconded by Huston, the Council
adjourned until 10;.00 AM, Monday July 10th,. 1933.

Special meeting of the City Council was called to order at
7:30 PM by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present; Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
Councilmen absent ; None.

Gentlemen;
You are hereby notified that a Special Meeting of the
City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California,
is called for and will be held in the Council Chamber of the
1.1. City Hall of said City at the hour of 7;30 PM, Friday
July 7th, 1933, for the purpose of considering and ex-
ecuting an oil and gas lease covering certain portions
of the tidelands within the city limits of the city of
Huntingt-on Beach.
