appeared before the Council and asked for $100.00 to held,
defray expense of.the July 4th celebration. On motion by
King seconded by Huston, the request was granted.
Hard :rater The City Clerk was directed to write the American
States Water Company and protest against their furnishing
city water from the well located near intersection of
Huntington Avenue and Summit Street.
On motion by King seconded by Huston, the Council
adjourned until 10;.00 AM, Monday July 10th,. 1933.

Special meeting of the City Council was called to order at
7:30 PM by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present; Marion, Huston, Stevens, King, Conrad.
Councilmen absent ; None.

Gentlemen;
You are hereby notified that a Special Meeting of the
City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California,
is called for and will be held in the Council Chamber of the
1.1. City Hall of said City at the hour of 7;30 PM, Friday
July 7th, 1933, for the purpose of considering and ex-
ecuting an oil and gas lease covering certain portions
of the tidelands within the city limits of the city of
Huntingt-on Beach.

Southwest Mr. E. E. Pyles addressed the Council and. stated that he
EXt)13--Otion represented the Southwest Exploration Company whose officers
Go. were employees of the Hancock Oil Company.
Mr. J. C. Argue addressed the Council and stated that
he represented 6, member of the Board of Directors of the
the Signal Oil and Gas Company.
The City Clerk read a proposed oil and gas lease.submitted
by Mr. E. E.Pyles and signed by officers of Southwest Ex—
ploration Company. The Clerk also read a proposed oil and
gas lease signed by J. C. Argue. Both leases covering
certain portions of the submerged tidelands within the city
limits of Huntington Beach.
#494-L tion After some discussion, in which Councilmen Marion and
Stevens objected to the length of time the leases were to
run and other matters contained in the leases, the City
Clerk presented and read Resolution No. 694, accepting oil
and gas lease of Southwest Exploration Company.
On motion by Councilman Zing, seconded by Councilman
Huston, Resolution No. 694 was passed and adopted by the
following votes;
AYES; Councilmen Huston, ]King, Conrad.
NOES; Councilmen Marion, Stevens.
The Chair declared Resolution No. 694 passed and adopted.,
There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the Council adjourned on motion by King seconded
by Huston. O
