Election_
D. R. White called the attention of the City Council to a
resolution passed by the Chamber of Commerce protesting
action takbneby the State of California in interfering with
the drilling of oil wells in the Huntington Beach field and
asked that the City Council pass a similar resolution.
Whereupon the City Clerk read Resolution No. 696, and on
motion by Marion, seconded by Stevens, same was passed and
adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen.Marion, King, Stevens, Conrad.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
On motion by Marion, seconded by Stevens, the Council
adjourned until 7:30 P.I., Monday September l9tn, 1933.

City Hall, Monday Sept. 18th, 1933•
Pursuant to adjournment of September 15th, the City Council
met and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present: Marion, Stevens, King, Conrad.
Councilmen absent,: None.
Mayor Conrad stated that this meeting was for the purpose of
calling a special election to elect a councilman to fill the
vacancy in the council caused by the resignation of Councilman
J. Ed Huston. He then asked for the reading of a letter from the
City Attorney which was , in the hands of the Deputy City Clerk, with
reference to the matter.
After the reading of the letter it was moved by Marion,
seconded by Stevens that the date or the election be set for
November 6tn, 1933:, that the City Attorney be instructed to
draw up the resolution calling the election for presentation
at a meeting of the Council to be held on September 25tn, 1933,
and that the City Clerk be instructed to make the necessary
,� election publications. Carried unanimously.

Ord. VA3o8 The Deputy City Clerk presented Ordinance No. 368, an
amendment to Ordinance No. 19, with reference to Street
opening deposits, for second reading. The reading was
dispensed with upon motion by King, seconded by Marion
and the unanimous vote of the Council. Upon motion by
King, seconded by Marion, the Ordinance No. 369, was
adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Marion, Stevens, King, Conrad.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
Ord. #369 The Deputy City Clerk presented.Ordinance No. 369,
an amendment to Ordinance No. 150, the tax ordinance,
for second reading. Upon motion by Stevens, seconded by
King, and the unanimous vote of the Council, the reading
was dispensed witn.- Upon motion by Stevens, seconded
by King, Ordinance No. 3b9 was adopted by the following
vote: .
AYES: Councilmen Marion, Stevens, King, Conrad.
NOES: None.
ABSENT:None.
ANpli. f;,r The application of Geo. Carandanis for a license to
license rejected
conduct a Lunch Counter at 215 - 15tn Street in a building to
- be moved in for that purpose, was rejected upon motion by
Marion, seconded by King.

a• restaurant at 406 Ocean Avenue was approved upon motion by
Stevens, seconded by King.
The application for license for Health Center by Mrs. Ada
Golden at 524 - lltn Street instead of at 250 Elmira Street
as approved by the Council on September lltn, was granted upon
motion by King, seconded by Marion.
Mayor Conrad then asked if there were any in the audience
with matters which they wished to bring before the Council,
there were no responses.
Upon motion by Stevens, seconded by King the Council ad-
journed to 7:30 P.M. Monday September 25tn, 1933-
