RE`.-'OLU TI ON OF THE CITE' COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HU1' TI NGTON BEACH, STATE E OF
CALIFORNIA, DECLARI ,,FG THE RESULT OF
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election was field and conducted
in the City of Huntington Beacn, California, on Monday the 6th
day of November, 1953, as required by law, and.,
WHEREAS) it .p ears that notice of said Election was duly
and legally given, that voting precincts were properly established,
that election officers were. appointed and election sunnlies
furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and
conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and
the returns thereof made and declared in time,form and manner as
re.uired by the general laws of the State of California, governing
elections in cities of the fifth and sixth classes, and
WHEREAS, the City Council. of said city met at the council
chamber of the said city council on Monday the 13th day of
November, 1935, to canvass the returns of said election and
install the newly elected ol=icer, as a result of which the
said city council finds tnat the number of votes cast, the -
names of" zne persons voted. for and other matters required by law,
as
to be/hereinafter stated, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED as f 6 11ows :
That said Special Municinal Election was held and conducted
in the City of Huntington Beach, California, on Monday the 6th
day of November, 19S5, in time, form and manner as recuired by law:
That there were four voting precincts established for the
purpose of holding said election, consisting; of a consolidation
of the regular election precincts established for holding general
State and County elections as follows:
Consolidated Voting precinct "A", coraprioing 9-cate and County
precincts numbers 1 and 2.
Consolidated Voting precinct "BIT, coi-iiprising State and County
,orecincts nwiibers 3 and
Consolidated Voting precinct 'TO" ooi,.q-!.,)risi-ag State and County
-Oreclnctr, numbers - 5 and 6.
Consolidated Voting Precinct I'D" com-prising State and County
precincts numbers 7 and. 8.
That the whole number of votes cast ins aid City was One
thousa.ad three hundred thirteen (1,313).
Taat the naimes of persons voted for, the office for which

7 10.*rAS B. TALBFRT was elected to the office of City Councilman
of
the
City
of Huntington Bern-ch. California, for the terns ending
at
the
next
General 11unici-pal Election.
The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council a
statement of the result of said election, showing (1) the wnole
number of votes cast in said City, (2) the names of the pers6ns
voted for, (3) the office for TMich each person was voted for,
(4) use number of votes given at each precinct for each of such
ners-ons and (5) the number of votes given in said city to each
of such persons.
The City Clerk shall Jumediately me1ce and deliver to each of
such persons elected a certificate of election signed by nim and duly

authenticated. He shall also im-nose the constitutional oath of
office and have them subscribe thereto, whereupon they shall be
inducted into the respective offices to which they nave been
elected.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a meeting held in accordance witn law on
the 13tn day of November, 1y33o

hereby certify that the above and foregoing Resolution No- 700
was regularly introduced, Dassed and adopted by the City Council
of said. city at a regular meeting of said City Council held on
the 13th day of November, 1953 by the following votes-.

City Hail, Monday November 13tn,1933.
Pursuant to adjournment of November 6th, the City Council met and
was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Conrad.
Councilmen present: Conrad, Marion, Stevens, King.
.Councilmen absent : None.
S-,)ecial Mayor Conrad informed the Council that they were met pursuant to

statute for the purpose of canvassing the votes of the Special Mun-
icipal Election which was held November 6tn, 1y33.
Wnereupon the City Clerk opened and submitted the election records
of the various election boards and the report of said boards being
checked and found correct, the clerk presented and read Resolution
No. 700 declaring the result of said election, a copy, of said
resolution No. 700 is attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.
On motion by King seconded by Marion Resolution No. 700 was passed
and adopted by the following votes:
AYES: Councilmen Marion, Stevens, King, Conrad.
NOES: Councilmen None.
ABSENT:Councilmen None.
The Council recessed for ten minutes at this time.
The Council again called. to order at 7:40 P.M. AAll members present.

Mayor Conrad appointed Councilman Marion on the Finance Committee.
On motion. by Stevens seconded by Talbert, demands anp roved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
The Clerk read a letter from Fire Chief Sargent asking that additional
equipment be furnished the fire department to be used in oil field fires,
and on motion by Talbert seconded by King the matter was referred to the
Police and Fire Committee for further details and. recommendations.
Attorney Overacker was, on motion by Stevens seconded by King
authorized to attend a meeting of attorneys at Glendale November 16th
for the purpose of discussing plans for the control of the liquor
traffic upon the repeal of the 18th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution.
On motion by King seconded by Marion charges of $5.00 each for
meetings October 5th, teachers reception and October l8th were ordered
refunded to the Chamber of Commerce on account said meetings being of
general public interest.

Reports The Clerk read reports of the Chief of Police, City Treasurer,
City Clerk, Superintendent of Streets, City Engineer, Building
Inspector and. City Judge,, and. on motion by King seconded by Stevens
same were accepted and. ordered filed.
iiesolutioii The C1erY. read Resolution No. 701 designating a portion of

Ocean Avenue and portions of Hampshire Avenue as state highways,
and on motion by King seconded.by Talbert, Resolution No. 701 was
passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Marion, Talbert,, Stevens, King, Conrad.
NOES: None.
1915 Act Attorney Overacker called attention of the Council to a recent

decision, American Company vs City of Lakeport, 1915 Act Bonds,.
and recommended that the City of Huntington Beach join other cities
in an effort to secure a new hearing, On motion by Marion seconded
by Stevens the sum of $50.00 was appropriated for court expenses in
said action.
Oil Hearing Councilman Marion recommended that all members of the City ColAncil
attend meeting of Governor Rolph and independent oil operators in
Sacramento November 15th.

The City Clerk was directed to thank the Long Beach Fire Depart-
ment and the Wilshire Oil Company for their assistance in putting
out fire in.tne oil field.,recently.
Attorney Overacker informed the Council that he had secured for
the city treasury the sum of approximately $2,200.00 due from the
defunct State Bank.
Fire protectior, Fire Chief Sargent stated the Texas Oil Company desired fire
protection outside the city limits and that they were willing to
pay for the services of the fire department. Matter referred back
for further and more complete information as to expense and
liability.
On motion by Marion seconded by King, the Council adjourned until
3:00 P.M. Tuesday November 14tn, 1933'•
