BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
City Hall 10:00- A M
Wednesday, Aug.15th,1934.
Pursuant to adjournment of August 14th; the Board of
Equalization was called to order at 10:00 A M_ by,Chairman
Talbert.
Board Members present: Talbert, Chamness, Warner..
Board Members Absent : Marion, Tovatt.
Forch and Ecke, attorneys representing the Wilshire Oil
and Ambassador Oil Companies, addressed the Board and presented
a written protest regularly -verified in which the above
named companies protested assessments made by the Assessor on
account oil royalties paid to the State of California.
At this time.10:35 A M Board Member Tovatt arrived.
The Attorneys for the Wilshire and'Ambassador Oil Companies
conducted an argument and stated that all'agreenents with the
State for the payment of royalty_ to the State were dated as of
March 1st, 1934 and they were executed on or about March 25th,
1934. Furthermore, 'that the agreements were not of record.
Whereupon, the Board -of Equalization accepted and ordered filed
the above named verified protests.
Similar -verified protests were filed by the Beloil. Corporation
Ltd.,and similar arguments presented by their attorney. Their
protests were also Accepted by the Board of Equalization and
ordered filed.
All of the above named protests were referred to the City
Attorney and City Assessor for their report and recommendations
at 1:00 P.M. August 20th,- 1934.
The Clerk presented and read a verified protest from'J. H:
Macklin, protesting the assessed valuation on Lots 1, 2 and 3
in Block 103; Lot 17 in Block 104,and Lots 21, 23, 25 and 27 in
Block 406. The protest covered valuation of both buildings and
real property. Action on this matter was deferred by the Board
until its meeting at 7 :00 .o .clock P M . Monday August 20th,1934.
There being no further
at -this time, on motion by
