Pursuant to adjournment.of December 3d, the.City Council was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Talbert._ councilmen present: Marion, Chamness, Tovatt, Warner, Talbert. Councilmen absent : None. At this time the Mayor called a short recess for the.`purp6-0e of going into executive session. Council again called to order at 8:35 P.M. All councilmen present. Mrs. Kirkpatrick -appeared before the Council and recommended that the City build a scout cabin on Lake Park near Main Street for ap- proximately fifty girl scouts.. After some discussion, Engineer Overmyer was directed to prepare an estimate for the construction of a building 30 x 50 to include rest room, Kitchen, fire -place and main recreation room. City Attorney Overacker informed the Council that this was the date set for hearing in the matter of revocation of license of the Bobb Inn cafe. Mayor Talbert asked Attorney Overacker to proceed with the hearing. After calling and hearing the evidence of a number of witnesses to the effect that the Bobb Inn had been conducted in a very disorderly manner and that rest room facilities were inadequate, on motion by Darner seconded by Tovatt, license of the Bobb Inn cafe was ordered revoked. Mr. A. H. McGonigle addressed the Council and asked permission to conduct the operatlon.of the Bobb Inn under his management on account of an' attachment. No action was taken by the Council. Upon recommendation of Councilmen Marion and Chamness, and on motion by Chamness seconded by Marion, the Council appropriated the sum of $100.00 to be paid to the Chamber of Commerce for Christmas advertising. On motion by Tovatt seconded by Chamness, demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. The application of Wm. Ford to conduct a cafe at 107 Main Street Cafe was approved, on motion by Marion seconded by Chamness. Agreement The Clerk presented and -read a lease agreement covering crossing on the P.E.�right of way easterly of First Street for the purpose of running a sewer line to the Cityos camp ground and, on motion by Marion seconded by Warner, the Mayor and City Clerk were autho- r 11 1 1 rized to execute same on behalf of the City. .01 #� 3: 1 1 Pining right The Clerk read letters from the Wilshire Oil Company and the taxes Ambassador Petroleum Company protesting against the payment of mining right taxes for the reason that same was being taxed by the State of California. Matter was referred to City Attorney �, ! Overacker for his opinion. Asks refund The Clerk read a claim of J%E.Whitfield asking refund of 1931-32 taxes on the building now occupied by the Southern California Edison Company; claim based on the ground that the building was being used as operative property by the Southern California Edison Company. Matter was referred to City Attorney Overacker for his opinion. Ladies' On motion by Warner seconded.by Chamness, the City Clerk was lounge authorized to employ Lyndon Wells to paint the ladies" lounge raom __. in the Memorial Hall, two coats not to exceed $28.00. Heating The City Clerk called the Council's attention to the bad condition plant of the heating plant in the City Hall and recommended that the present water heater, boiler and storage tank be replaced with new equipment and that steam lines in the attic be re-covered. This matter was referred to the building committee and city engineer for their in- vestigation and recommendation at next meeting. Garage for Engineer Overmyer recommended that the wooden building on the camp camp ground ground be moved and re -Made into a garage. After,some discussion, the engineer was asked to submit an estimate for cost of removal or building a new building sufficiently large to house one automobile and a tractor.
