Councilmen present: Talbert, Chamness, Warner, Tovatt. Councilmen absent : Marion. The Clerk read bids for painting the Horseshoe Club house as follows: Walter Washburn Lyndon Wells George W.-Jacobs $68.44 71.00 120.00 On motion by Chamness seconded by Tovatt, all bids were rejected except the bid of Walter Washburn for the sum of $68.44 which was accepted with the provision that the work be done under the super- vision of the City Engineer. City Engineer Overmyer presented plans and specifications for repair of the municipal pier and, on motion by Warner seconded by Tovatt, same were accepted. The Chair.appointed Tovatt on the Finance Committee. On motion by Chamness seconded by Tovatt, the demands approved by the Finance Committee were ordered paid. On motion by Warner seconded by Chamness, the City Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for the repair of the municipal pier, advertisement to appear in the Huntington Beach News March 14th and 21st, bids to be opened and examined at 7:30 P.M. Monday March 25th,1935• City Attorney Overacker informed the Council that the City won the case of Watts vs City of Huntington Beach in a.jury trial recently. The Clerk read a letter from C B Baldwin relative to SERA recreational activities. The Chair appointed Councilmen Warner, Chamness and Tovatt to meet with Mr. Baldwin and others and assist in encouraging recreational activities, expecially on the beach. Delinquent rentals In the matter of delinquent rentals of Harvey Walker, on motion by Warner seconded by Chamness, the Clerk was directed to notify Harvey Walker that he must pay up all back rentals on or before April 1st, 1935 or vacate the premises and have his lease cancelled. In the matter of Dwight Clapp delinquent on beach concession lease, this was referred to the beach and pier committee to in- vestigate and report at next meeting.
