City Hall,-Thrnrg�June 12th, 1935
Pursuant to adjournment of June 6th, the City Council was
called to order at 7:30 P.M. by the City Clerk.
Councilmen present: Marion, Chamness, Warner, Tovatt.
Councilmen absent : Talbert.
Marion - On motion by Warner seconded by Tovatt, Councilman Marion was
Mayor pro-tem
appointed mayor pro-tem.
Monthly reports The Clerk read monthly reports of the City Treasurer, City Clerk
Building Inspector, Superintendent of Streets, Chief of Police and
City Judge and, on motion by Warner seconded by Tovatt, same were
f accepted and ordered filed.
Rental of pier The application of Al Brunner for permission to rent a small
Bldg..
building on the outer end of the municipal pier was referred to
�r Councilman Chamness: and City Attorney Overacker to prepare'.the
.necessary contract.
Electric light The Clerk read bids for furnishing the city with electric
globes contract
awarded light globes for the fiscal year July 1, 1935 to June 3oth, 1936
as follows:
Bales Electric Company, Huntington Beach,
McIntosh Electric Company, Huntington Beach,
Frank Helm Company, Huntington Beach.
All bids were as follows: Value of contract $600,00, standard
packages.discount 25%, broken packages discount 15%, discount for
cash 10 days 2%. On motion by Warner seconded by Chamness, the
contract was awarded to McIntosh Electric Company.
Free use of city The request of the American Legion Auxiliary for free use of
audit. -Auxiliary
the city auditorium Friday May 24th., known as poppy day, was granted
on motion by Chamness seconded by Warner.

The
Clerk gave Ordinance #381, regulating
electrical
First reading
signs, its
first reading at this time.
Ord. 385-
The
Clerk gave Ordinance #385, regulating
laundry licenses,
passed
its second
and final reading at this time and, on
motion by Chamness
seconded by
Tovatt, Ordinance #385 was passed and
adopted by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Chamness, Tovatt, Warner, Marion.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Talbert.
Salary increase- The written recommendation of Chief of Police Gelzer that
Officer Blossom
Officer Blossom receive the salary of $140.00 per month beginning
June 1st, 1935 was read by the Clerk and on motion by Chamness
seconded by Tovatt, the recommendation was accepted and Officer
Blossom°s salary ordered placed at $140.00 per month.
Resolution- The Clerk read a resolution from the Chamber of Commerce.
C of C.
"¢ commending the Council on its action relative to pending legislation
concerning oil royalties and condemning proponents of recall petitions.
Recess
Two extra life
guards
The communication was received and ordered filed.
At this time, 9:00 B.M., the Chair called a recess to go
into executive session.
Council again called to order at 9:50 P.M.
Councilmen present: Chamness, Warner, Tovatt, Marion.
Councilmen absent : Talbert.
On*motion by Chamness seconded by Warner, the chief life
guard was authorized to employ two -regular life guards five days
per week each, salary_ $100F00: pferi month; same ton serve • at ='thee will
and..pleasure of the City Council.
On motion by Warner seconded by Chamness, the Council
adjourned until 7:30 P.M. Wednesday June 19th, 1935.
