MINUTES
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
Council Chamber, City Hall,
Monday, August 12,•1935.
Pursuant to statutes covering cities of the 6th class,
the City Councilmen met as a Board of Equalization and were
called to order by Chairman Talbert at 10:00 A.M. Monday
August 12th, 1935.
Members present: Talbert, Warner, Tovatt.
Members absent Marion, Chamnees.
The Clerk read a letter signed by Arthur Marowitz and
_ J. D Long protesting against assessments by the City.Assessor
placed against Lots 1 to 12 inclusive, Block 2201 and 1 to 32
inclusive, Block 2202, Vista Del -Mar Tract, Section 5. Mr.
Marowitz and Mr. Long were present in person and addressed the
Board relative to the assessed values of the above named lots
and stated that same were not assessed as.low as adjoining
acreage. The assessor and the Board maintained that it was
customary to assess subdivided blocks at a higher value than
adjoining acreage. The matter was taken under advisement until
7:00 P.M. this date.
There being no further business to come before the
Board at this time, on motion by Warner seconded by Tovatt, it
adjourned until 7:00 P M Monday August 12th, 1935.

7:00 P.M Monday Aug4l2th, 1935.
Pursuant to adjournment of this date, the Board of
Equalization met and was called to order at 7:00 P.M by
Chairman Talbert.
Members present: ^Talbert, Warner, Tovatt
Members absent : Chamness, Marion.
Arthur Marowitz and J.D.Long again appeared before the
Board relative to assessments on Block 2201 and 2202, VistaiDel
Mar Tract and, after some discussion, on motion by Warner seconded
by Tovatt, the Board voted unanimously to sustain values as set
by the City Assessor covering, tRe above named blocks.
The Clerk informed the Board that no other written
protests were on f Ile.
On motion by Warner seconded by Tovatt, the Board
_voted unanimously to sustain all assessments in.the City of
Huntington Beach as made by the City Assessor for the ensuing
year.
On motion by Warner secon byAvayb, the Board
adjourned.
