Pursuant -to adjournment of January 6th, Councilman Tovatt and City Clerk appeared at the council chambers at 7:30 P.M.. There being no quorum present, the meeting was adjourned by Councilman Tovatt and the Clerk until 7:30 P.M Monday January 27th, MINUTES 1936. City Clerk and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council. City Hall, Monday January 27th, 1936 r Pursuant to adjournment of January 20th, the City Council met and was called to order at 7:30 P M. by Mayor Talbert. Councilmen present: Marion,Chamness,Warner,Tovatt, Talbert. Councilmen Absent None. State Board The Clerk read a letter from the ,State Board of Equalization of Eaual . - letter permitting the City to exceed its.original 1935-1936 budget in the amount of 4$10,000.00. The communication was ordered filed. Lease - On motion 'by' Marion seconded by Tovatt, lease of Pacific Electric Parking strip Railway Company for parking strip along Ocean Avenue was accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to execute same on behalf of the City. Letter from A letter from C. H King proposing to sell to the City Lots 3 and 4, C H King. Block 601, Vista Del* Mar, for 42, 250. 00. or sane including houses for h$2, 750.OD was read and ordered filed. Check approved- On motion by Tovatt seconded by.Chamness, demand of the Currie Eng- Currie Eng.Co. ineering Company for $2,000.00,applying on services, was ordered paid, same having been approved by the Finance Committee, Water Co. A letter from the American States Water Service Company in which the company proposed to construct two water lines in the 17th Street district oil field was read by the Clerk and referred to the City Engineer and Councilman Marion, Chairman of the oil committee, for investigation and -recommendations at next meeting of the Council. Letters read A letter from the Chamber of Commerce recorimending paving of Main from C. of C. Street outside the city limits was referred to the Streets and Parks Committee. A letter from the same organization recommending the removal of unsightly buildings along Ocean Avenue was referred to the building inspector and another letter recommending the installation of danger signal light at the intersection of 14th and Main was referred to the Superintendent of Streets. 4 1 364n�_ ?/Ilw_�Y y 1 f rom LeULIer A letter from A W Morehouse recommending that the City Council A W Morehouse - reduce its salaries and that the proposition of reducing councilmen's salaries be placed on the April ballot, was read by the Clerk and ordered filed by the Mayor and Council. Gasoline Bids 8:00 b.1clock P.M. This being the date and hour set for opening and examining bids for furnishing the City with gasoline for the year beginning February 1st, 1936, the Clerk opened and read the following bids: Home Oil Company, Anaheim, Calif. . . . . . . . On motion by Warner seconded by Tovatt, bids were taken under advisement until next meeting of the City Council. Bids on outfall This being the time set by the City Council for opening and sewer & sewage treatment examining bids for the construction of outfall sewer and sewage treatment plant plant, on motion by Tovatt seconded by Warner, the Clerk was authorized and directed to open all bids at this time. Council again called to order at 9:45 P M. Councilmen present:. Marion, Chamness, Warner, Tovatt, Talbert. Councilmen absent None. Resolution, Resolution No. 734, recommending award. of contract to No.734 Hoagland Engineering and Construction Company at its bid of $79,753.20 was read and, on motion by Warner seconded by Tovatt, Resolution No. 734 wan passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Marion, Chamness, Warner, Tovatt,Talbert. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. Return bidder's On motion by Warner seconded by Marion, the Clerk was check to Cresmer Mfg.Co. authorized to return the bidder's check of Cresmer Manufacturing Company in the sum of.$9,500.00 with the provision that receipt for same be taken. Motion put and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, on motion by Warner seconded by Marion, the Council adjourned.
