HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936-09-21MINUTES City Hall, Monday September 21, 1936. Pursuant to adjournment of September 18th, the City Council met and. was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Warner. Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Henrickson, Warner. Councilmen.absent Talbert. Sidewalks Engineer Overmyer informed the Council that he had contacted officers of the WPA and that he believed they would agree to pay 50o of the cost of the material and 100% of the cost of labor and supervision in repairing side- walks in the City. On motion by Henrickson seconded by,Chamness, the City Engineer was directed to prepare plans and submit an application to the WPA ' for the repair of sidewalks; that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute the application and that the City Engineer be designated as the 1 - - sponsor s agent. Motion put and carried unanimously. Hoagland Eng. The Clerk read an assignment of the Hoagland Engineering and Construct- & Const.Co. ion Company assigning balance due them to the Bank of America, Long Beach, and on motion by Morehouse seconded by Chamness, the assignment of the Hoagland Engineering and Construction Company of balance due them to the Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association was accepted. Initiative The Clerk read a proposed ordinance submitting to the people at the Measure November 3rd election an amendment to License Ordinance No. 327, same being an ordinance heretofore ordered prepared by the City Council in addition to the initiative ordinance. After some discussion, it was decided by the City Council not to submit the additional proposed ordinance. The following motion by Councilman Henrickson: "That the City Council submit to the people the initiative measure only". Motion seconded by Chamness, put and carried. Resolution The Clerk read Resolution No. 757 placing an initiative measure on NO-757 the November 3rd ballot and providing that same be conducted by the County Board of Supervisors and, on motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, Reso- lution No. 757 was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Morehouse, Chamness, Henrickson, Warner. NOES: None. ABSENT: Councilman Talbert. On motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, the City Attorney was directed to submit Resolution No. 757 to the County Board of Supervisors. Golf Club The matter of appropriating $500.00 toward expense of operating the local golf course was discussed and referred to the Music and Promotion Committee and Finance Committee with instructions that they investigate further the requirements of the golf club. 10 Page 2, Minutes Se tMin , 93 1 6. p.21 Bldg. Inspector's Mayor Warner stated that there ,is to biIheld in: -,San Francisco Convention on October 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th a Building Inspector's Convention and suggested that the expense of the City Engineer be born by the City in the event he attended the meetings. Mayor Warner stated that he might be able to attend some of the sessions. No action was taken by the Council. On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the Council adjourned.
