Survey of
beaches
City Hall, Wednesday Nov. 18th,1936.
Pursuant to adjournment of November loth, the City Council
met and was called to order at 7:30.P M by Mayor Warner.
Councilmen present: Warner, Talbert, Henrickson.
Councilmen absent : Morehouse, Chamness.
The request of Chief of Police Grant for permission to sell
two of the City's motorcycles and purchase a new car for the
Police Department was referred to the Police Committee of the
City Council.
7:35 P M. Councilman Morehouse arrived at this time.
The recommendation of City Engineer Overmyer that the .City
trade its tandem roller for a six ton Fordson roller and receive
the'sum of $250.00 in exchange was approved, on motion by Henrickson
seconded by Talbert.
7:40 P.M. Councilman Chamness arrived.
The Clerk read a letter from the City Engineer of the City of
Newport Beach to the effect that a survey of the beaches along
Orange County coast front was in contemplation for the purpose of
studying erosion. The letter stated that the cost of the work
would be approximately $5000.00 of which $2500;.00" :would'haYe%.to';be
borne by local interests, namely Orange County $1,250.00,
Newport Beach $725.00, Huntington Beach $350.00 and Seal Beach
$175.00. After some discussion, it was decided that the survey
would be of little benefit to the City of Huntington Beach and, on
motion by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the offer to include
_ Huntington Beach in the project was declined.
Garage applica- On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the application
tion approved
of Harry R. Pence to operate garage at.117 - 3rd Street was approved.
Ins. on truck The Clerk informed the Council that J. P. McHale and Company,
insurance adjustors, were holding up the $20.00 payment covering
damage to Ford truck by G. C, weldin for the reason that they had
not yet received signed release from B. E. Farrar and Earl Crawford.
Surety bond On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the surety bond
of L. H. Creamer, plumbing contractor, was accepted and ordered
filed.
Pacific Coast The Clerk read a letter from the Pacific Coast Fisheries
Fisheries
relative to sardine fishing. The communication was ordered filed.
Tax bill The Clerk informed the Council that the County had rendered a
tax bill against the real estate on which the sewage plant is
located. The bill was referred to the City Attorney to determine
_ whether or not the City was liable for county -taxes.
Resolution by The Clerk read Resolution of the Board. of Supervisors of Orange
Board of Super- County declaring result of the City's,special election held in
visors conjunction with the General State election on November 3rd. The
result of said election being as follows:

PWA Mayor Warner stated that he had been.informed by Walker and Eisen
that there was some misunderstanding at PWA headquarter s regarding the
new proposed beach pavilion to -the effect that the project was being held
up for the reason that the building was to be used as a beach dance hall.
Mayor Warner stated that.he had telegraphed the Department at Washington
to the effect that the name of the proposed building is to be (Municipal
Beach Pavilion and Auditorium". Councilman Chamness submitted another
telegram going more into detail and suggested that it be sent also. No
action was taken by the Council.
Demand On motion by b—hamne-ZE seconded by 'Talbert, demand of I the Huntington
Beach band approved by the.Finance Committee was ordered paid.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, the Council adjourned
until 7:30 P.M Tuesday November 24th, 19360
