MINUTES
City Hall, Monday December 7th, 1936.
The.regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at
8:30 P.M. by Mayor Warner,
_.._,,..-.. Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Henrickson, Warner.
Councilmen absent Talbert.
Minutes On motion by Chamness seconded by Henrickson, minutes for the month
of November were approved as read.
Lamp post at Engineer Overmyer informed the Council that the lamp post near 17th
17th & Ocean
and Ocean knocked down by W. D. Lookadoo had not yet'been paid for, although
bills had been rendered. Engineer Overmyer stated that he had discussed
the matter with Lookadoo and.that he had promised to either work for the City
or pay in small installments. The matter was referred to the City Attorney
and City Engineer for further investigation.
Surety Bond On motion by Morehouse seconded by Henrickson, the surety bond of.
accepted
Talbert, housemover, was accepted and ordered filed.
Permission to On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the Associated Telephone
remove palm tree
Company was given authority to remove a palm tree at the junction of Quincy
and Southern Pacific railway, work to be done at the expense of the telephone
company.
Terraplane for The Police Committee recommended the purchase of a new Super-Terraplane
Police Dept.
6, Model.72, at the price of $945.00 plus state sales tax and less discount
from the Main Street garage and, on motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse,
the City Controller was authorized to make the purchase.
S A.Junior The Clerk read a letter from the Santa Ana Junior College thanking

:. the Council for the use of Memorial. Hall, same was ordered filed.
Memorial Hall On motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, the Council waived
.charges for the use of Memorial Hall Monday, December 14th, to the Legion
Auxiliary for the reason that the hall is to be used for the purpose of
...raising funds to purchase Christmas baskets for the needy.
Officer Gillespie The Clerk read a letter from Chief of Police Grant to the effect
resigns
A J.Parker that Officer Gillespie had resigned and that A. J. Parker had been
appointed
appointed to fill the va ncy, effective December lst, 1936, and, on

approved.

PWA transfer On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the City Clerk and -Treasurer
were authorized to transfer the sum of $10,762.20 from the PWA sewer fund to
the general fund.
Protest 'The Clerk informed the Council that protests against the Board of Equal=

City maps The City Controller was authorized to get prices for furnishing the City
with three hundred or more small maps.
Meeting Mayor Warner stated that he and'Chief Grant expected to attend a meeting

New Terra- On motion by Morehouse seconded by Chamness, the Clerk and Mayor were

authorized to execute warrant in payment for'the new Terraplane to be purchased
for the Police Department from the Main Street garage.
Walker & Eisen The Finance Committee called attention of the Council to the fact that the
bill of Walker and Eisen for services amounted to $744.24 whereas the contract
price was $700.00. The Council decided not to pass payment of the demand and
directed the Clerk to communicate with Walker and Eisen with a view to having
the bill reduced to the contract price.
Evangeline Councilman Henrickson called attention to the condition of the Evangeline
hotel
Hotel, stating that it is not safe from fire hazard and recommended that some
action be taken to correct the condition. The matter was referred to the City
Attorney.
Demands On motion�by Chamness seconded by Henrickson, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
The Council adjourned on motion by Chamness seconded by Henrickson.
