City Hall, Wednesday, January 20th,19,37.
Pursuant to adjournment of January 18th, 1937, the Council
was called to order at 7-:._30 P.M. by Mayor Warner.
Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Henrickson, Warner.
Councilmen absent Talbert. !
Councilman Morehouse brought up the matter of the disposing
of useless junk and refuse from sumps on private property. No action
taken.
Councilman Henrickson reported complaints to him of unsatis-
factory garbage collection. It was reported,by Engineer Overmyer that
a new driver was,not entirely familiar with the route as yet.
Councilman Henrickson brought up the matter of breakage of
the concrete on paved streets at the entrance of dirt alleys. Engineer
Overmyer said that the matter .would be looked into with view to repair.
Councilman Morehouse reported various streets as being in
bad condition, notably Springfield between Railroad tracks and Delaware,
Alabama Avenue north of Acacia. Councilman Henrickson called attention
to the condition of Yorktown.- The City Engineer said that work on

streets was being delayed by rain.
Flowers in Mr. Marcus Howard, representing Beautification Committee of
parktirays t
the Chamber of Commerce, asked consideration of the matter of planting `
flowers in parkways and vacant lots. Believed cost -would be not more
than $100 as they had contacted man willing to plow and get ready each
parkway for planting at a cost of $.50 each. Suggested use of poppies
and petunias.. Area suggested was First Street to Fourteenth Street
along Ocean Avenue, also other parkways or lots along other routes
into town. Matter was referred to City Engineer to investigate costs

of work and seeds, also area to bd.planted, he to confer with Beauti-
f ication Committee of the Chamber of. Commerce and report back to
/ Council at meeting of February lst.

On motion by Henrickson, seconded by Chamness, Council
was adjourned to Monday, January 25th, 1937 at 7:30 P.M.
