Pursuant to adjournment of March 8, 1937, Council was called to
order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Warner.
Councilmen present: Warner, Henrickson, Morehouse, Chamness, Talbert.

C. of C. The Clerk read letter from Chamber of Commerce expressing appre-
ciation for Council's action in placing bulbs of 4000 lumens in Main
Street lights. The letter was ordered placed on file.
Fishing A letter from the Orange'County Coast Association favoring new bill
Reserve
for formation of fishing reserve along Orange County Coast, as read by the
Clerk, was taken under advisement.

Application Application of Beulah Westmoreland, 714 - llth Street, for concession
at life -guard station, for sale of sandwiches, soft drinks, etc., and
rental of umbrellas,'was referred to the Beach and Pier Committee.
Sun Parlor The matter of use of sun parlor on pier by life -guards was referred
on pier

The feasibility of temporary movable building on beach for use as

C Bond approved Electrician's License Bond in the sum of $500.00, V. A. Tripp of
Newport Beach as Principal, was approved, on motion by Talbert, seconded
by Morehouse. '
�. Pound Master Application of Joe Tompkins for position of Assistant Pound Master, i
which application was read by the Clerk, or the retention of Mr. Pickering,

now employed, until April 1st, were referred to the Police and Fire Committee
with power to employ. This on motion by Morehouse, seconded by Talbert.

Rolling Mr. Sol White of the Business Men's Committee of the Chamber of
Stores
Commerce, addressed the Council introducing Mr. Burnett, representative of
various wholesale houses. Mr. Burnett spoke in favor of protecting local �
merchants by imposing a higher license on "Rolling Stores01. On motion by
Chamness, seconded by Talbert, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare
amendment to License Ordinance, which amendment would impose license of
$500.00 per year, or $25.00 per day, with minimum of 10 days or $250.00.
Also, to include in said amendment a license fee of $25.00 per day for
N auctioneers.

Taxes on On motion by Talbert, seconded by Henrickson, the City Attorney was
Milroy Oil
Co. authorized to appear for Tax Collector in the matter of hearing on taxes
` of the Milroy Oil Company, Bankrupt.

Charter Mr. F. E. Bundy addressed the Council with reference to the
proposed Charter for the City of Huntington Beach, expressing himself
as being in favor of election of Councilmen by wards, and in favor
of the appointment by the Council of Chief of Police and City
Attorney.
Following considerable discussion relative to the Charter to
be submitted for vote of the people, the' Council_ adjourned to 4:OG
p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1937, upon motion by Chamness,.seconded by
Talbert.
