MINUTES
City Hall, Monday, July 12th, 1937
Pursuant to adjournment of July 8th, the City Council met, -
and was called to order at 7:20 P.M. by Mayor Warner.
Councilmen present: Morehouse,Talbert, Henrickson, Warner.
Councilmen absent : Chamness.
Annual Meeting- This being the date set by Charter for the regular annual
Board of Equal.
meeting of the Board of Equalization, on motion by Talbert seconded
by Henrickson, the City Council adjourned until 7:45 P. M. this date.

City Fall, Monday 7:45 P.M., July 12, 1937
Pursuant to adjournment at 7:25 P.M., July 12th, the City Council
met and was called to order at 7:45 P.M.
Councilmen present:Morehouse,Chamness,Talbert,Henrickson, Warner.
Councilmen absent :None.
H R.Bill The Clerk read a letter from the League of. Municipalities urging

the City Council to wire or write the representatives in Congress and
urge their support of H.R.Bill No. 7186, permitting cities to collect
interest from banks in which city funds are regularly deposited and,
on motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, the City Clerk was
directed to wire Senator McAdoo and Congressmen Thomas F. Ford and
Harry Sheppard in accordance with the Leagues request.
Letter from State A letter from the State Board of Equalization asks

to use an office in the city hall for meetings to investigate applica-
tions to sell alcoholic beverages was referred to the City Clerk with
instructions to inform the Board that it will be permissible to use
- the City Hall Council Chamber.
De Guellp-gs contract -The City Attorney was handed a copy of James De Guelle's lease
contract and asked to prepare a new contract and submit at next meeting
of the Council.

Junk license
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the application of
approved
.Pd. Bol•off for license to collect junk within the city limits was approved.
�W The Clerk presented and read bids of W. D. Young, Terry's Service
Chevrolet car -
Fire Chief
Station and Garage, Main Street Garage and H. W. Hartley for furnishing
the fire chief with a new car and, on motion by Talbert seconded by Chamness,
the City Controller was authorized to purchase. a standard Chevrolet at the
price of $747.25 plus sales tax, $22.20.
Demands
On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, demands approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid.
Floor covering- On motion -by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, Fred Pickering was

awarded the contract for covering the floor of Memorial Hall.
Earl Conrad
On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, Earl Conrad was employed

as assistant at the municipal camp ground at a salary of $110.00 per month,

effective July 8th to September 15th, inclusive. I
Equipment for Councilman Chamness informed the Council that he had purchased and was
beach play
ground...
having installed some new equipment for the children's play ground on the beach.

On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the beach and pier committee
was authorized to employ Mrs. Dan Coplin as beach play ground supervisor, '
effective July 15th to September 15th, at a salary of $75.00 per month.
Lake Park

On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, the City Engineer was directed
to complete plans and detailed specifications for proposed improvements in
Lake park.
Improve steps City Hall Upon suggestion of Councilman Talbert, the City Engineer was requested

to submit plans for the improvement of the steps leading to the city hall general
offices.

Councilman Morehouse submitted prices of property along the proposed

Main Street to Frankfort Street cut-off. Councilman Morehouse was continued
on the committee for further investigation.
Derrick City Attorney Kuchel reported that he had been informed by the owner that
the derrick at 9th and Ocean would be removed within the next two weeks.
Ins. policy City Attorney Kuchel informed the Council that it was his opinion that the
insurance policy of the Ocean Sport Fishing, Inc., complied with the require-
ments of the contract between the City and C• K. Morrison.
Complaints
trucks & cars Councilman Morehouse called the Council's attention to the fact that
on pier
complaints had been -made concerning trucks and cars being operated on the
r-f municipal pier, it being the opinion of those making complaints that the
I�I vibration caused would damage the structure of the pier. No action was taken
by the Council.

C. G. Barker
On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, the Chief of
Police was directed to hold the office of C. G. Barker until he
makes an accounting, satisfactory to the City.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the Council.
