City Hall, Monday, October,ll, 1937.
Pursuant to adjournment of October 4th, the City Council
met and was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Warner.
Councilmen present: Warner, Mor.ehouse,Chamness,Talbert,Henrickson
Councilmen absent: None -
Mr Eisen of the firm of Walker and Eisen, Architects,
was present and•gave $46,000 as new estimate for construction '
of beach pavilion, based -'on present costs. Upon motion by'Talb.ert,
seconded by= Chamness, matter - of decision as to acceptance of federal
grant - for purpose of construction of the pavilion was deferred' until.
c. of C.
Straw vote. Wednesday evening,, October 1-3th, 1937 at 7:30 p.m., in order to hear
result of straw vote conducted by the Chamber of Commerce as to wishes
of- t-he* 'vot-ers. Mr,. Eisen called the attention of the Council to the
fact that the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works be
notified of change in wage scale, the figures for which must be made
be resolution of the Council.
Mayor Warner presented verbal request of M. C.Adams for
M,.C.Adams permission to remove palm from parkway in front -'of his residence on
-Alabama Avenue. Upon motion of Chamess seconded by Talbert, the
request was granted.

. The 'Clerk read Resolution No. 785, setting wage scale
for construction of Recreation Building in Lake Park; on motion
by Henrickson, seconded by Talbert, Resolution No. 785 was adopted
by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Morehouse, Chamness,Talbert, Henrickson,Warner:
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: None
The•Clerk read letter from Engineer Overmyer;presenting
to the Council an Easement from the Pacific Electric Railway Company
covering five foot strip for storm drain purposes across their property
at Thirteenth Street. Upon motion of -Talbert, seconded -by Henrickson,
the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign Easement and have
same recorded.
The Clerk reported that Mr. Webb, representativb of the
Pacific Indemnity Company had advised that his czmpany could now issue
three.year policies at a lower annual rate than for a one year policy.
Matter was deferred until next meeting of the Council.
'-Counc,ilma:n`Talbert,reported as to negotiations With the
Mills Land and Water Company for purchase by the City of beach
frontage and adjacent land containing about 50 acres, the price he
submitted totaling $120,000, 418,000 cash payment, balance in 10
equal payments carrying 4% interest. Upon motion of Chamness, seconded
by Henrickson, matter was taken under advisement until next meeting
of the Council.
