HomeMy WebLinkAbout1937-10-25c c c C C C C MINUTES City Hall, Monday, October 25th, 1937 Pursuant to adjournment of October 18th,•the City Council met and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Warner. Councilmen present: Morehouse, Talbert, Henrickson, Warner. Councilmen absent: - Chamness (Councilman Chamness arrived at 7:45 P.M.) Linoleum for Engineer Overmyer submitted an estimate of $73.60 for linoleum Eng.off ice laid down in the engineer's office. On motion by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the Engineer was authorized to order the work done at the price offered. Renewal.lease - The Clerk read a renewal lease between the Pacific Electric Company P E and the City of Huntington Beach covering 22 foot strip of right of way between Main and First Streets, Huntington Beach and, on motion by Henrick- son seconded by Talbert, the Mayor and Clerk were authorized to execute same on,behalf of the City. Claim against The Clerk read -a verified claim of Robert B. Dockstater and William City Ellis on account of injuries alleged to have been sustained on Ocean Avenue during the construction of the 13th Street storm drain and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, same was referred to the City Attorney for his investigation and report at next meeting of the"City Council. Councilman Chamness Councilman Chariness arrr.ived at this time, 7:45_P:M. Arrives Mrs. Went- The Clerk read a letter from Beulah Westmoreland asking the Council moreland to execute lease for a period of three years on ground covered by building owned by her and located near the municipal auto camp. On motion by Talbert seconded by Henrickson, the matter was referred back to Mrs. Westmoreland with request that she submit plans for the proposed im- provements to her building. WPA BeachlP7-DS The Clerk presented and read applicant's report covering progress of Public Works Administration Docket - California 1167-DS, Beach Pavi- lion and Civic Auditorium, also form to be used in advertising for bids for the construction of said building and, on motion by Councilman Talbert seconded by Councilman Henrickson, the City Clerk was directed to advertise for sealed bids for the construction of a beach pavilion and civic auditorium in accordance with plans and specifications now on ` file in the office of the City Clerk, City Engineer and Architects Walker and Eisen; bids to be received in the office of the City Clerk on or before 8:00 o"clock P.M., Monday, November 15th, 1937; bids to be opened and examined by the City Council at said time. Motion put and carried unanimously. Page 2 - Minutes Oct. 25, 1937. 13th Street Storm drain E Errington Painting Offices The written request of A.L. Gabrielson for a thirty day extension of time for the completion of 13th Street storm drain was read and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, Mr. Gabrielson was given an extension of fifteen days without penalty. The matter of transferring E. Errington from the Police Department to the Street Department was laid over until the November lst meeting. On motion by Talbert seconded by Henrickson, G W. Wardwell was awarded the contract for painting the City Engineer's office, the Police Department offices, Fire Department and the City Clerk's office.
