HomeMy WebLinkAbout1937-11-081126 MINUTES City Hall, Monday November 8, 1937 Pursuant to adjournment of November lst, the City Council met and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Warner. Councilmen present: Morehouse, Chamness, Talbert, Henrickson, Warner. Councilmen absent: None. WPA assistance- The Clerk presented and i-i' ad WPA 6170-5920 renewal of contract recreation project with the City for furnishing the City with WPA assistance in recreation project on the beach and city parks for the year 1938; the proposal being that the City furnish one supervisor for the beach and that the WPA furnish three for the parks and four for the beach at no cost to the City and, on motion by Morehouse seconded by Chamness,,the Mayor was authorized to execute the contract on behalf of the City. License approved On motion'by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse, the license appli- cation of L. Gist to operate Virginia hotel was approved. Neon ..sign -. On motion by Chamness seconded by Morehouse, the application for H.E.Miller permit to erect Neon sign at 426 Main Street by H..E. Miller was approved. Surety bond On motion by Chamness seconded by Henrickson, the surety bond of the Pacific Plumbing Company was accepted and ordered filed. Demands On motion by Talbert seconded by Cham-ness, demands approved by the Finance committee were ordered paid. Agreement - The Clerk read an agreement between the City of Huntington Beach Bldg. in Lake Park and Catching Brothers for the construction of a recreation building in Lake Park in the City of Huntington Beach and, on motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, the Mayor and City Clerk were autho- rized to execute same on behalf of the City. Claim denied, City Attorney Kuchel informed the Council that he had written Attorney Limon B. Sutter informing him that the claim of Robt..D. Dockstater and William Ellis had been denied by the City. No reply received yet from Attorney Sutter. 90 days to call Attorney Kuchel informed the Council that it would take approxi- bona election mately ninety days to call a bond election and sell bonds to raise funds for the acquisition of beach front and other property. On motion by Talbert, seconded by Chamness, the Council adjourned until 7:30 P.M. Monday, November 15th, 1 37. City Clerk and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council. T" ity Clerk 0
