City Hall, Monday, December 6th, 1937
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
by Mayor darner.
Councilmen present: Warner, Morehouse, Chamness, Talbert, Henrickson.
Councilmen absent: None.
Minutes
On motion by Chamness seconded by Henrickson, minutes of the Council for
the month of November were approved as read.
Monthly
The Clerk read reports of the City Treasurer, City Clerk, City Collector,
reports
Chief of Police, City Judge, Superintendent of Streets and, on motion by
Talbert seconded by Chamness, same were accepted and ordered filed.
Bids -
Roofing for
The Clerk presented and read informal bids for roofing the city hall
city hall
building as follows:
Kelley Roofing Company, Santa Ana . $355.00
Holmes Roofing Company, Santa Ana . 3 8.00
Service Roofing Company, Fullerton . . . . M.00
and, on motion by Chamness seconded by Henrickson, all bids were rejected
except the bid of the Service Roofing Company and their bid in the amount
of $340.00 was accepted.

The Clerk read a letter from City Engineer Overmyer calling the Council's
waste wat e r
line
attention to clogged condition in waste water line in the vicinity of 12th
and Park Streets. The matter was -referred to the oil committee and City
Engineer Overmyer for their recommendations and report.
H. B. Band The Clerk read a letter from J. R. Peterson commending the Council for its
support of the Huntington Beach band. The letter was ordered filed.
Cafe On motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, the application for license
to conduct business of cafe at 112 - 18th Street by Maurine Heisler was
approved.
Traffic On motion by Henrickson seconded by Chamness, the City Attorney and Chief
Ordinances
of Police were authorized and directed to make a study of the city traffic
ordinances with a view of bringing them up to date in accordance with State
regulations.
Resignation- The Clerk read the resignation of Patrolman George W. Cox, addressed.:�;to
G.W.Cox,
patrolman the Chief of Police, effective December 15th, 1937. Chief of Police Grant
recommended that the resignation be accepted and, on motion by Talbert ...
seconded by Morehouse, the resignation of George W. Cox was accepted and the
Clerk directed to write him a letter thanking him -for efficient service.
Mr. Cox was allowed a fifteen days vacation with pay.

Demands On motion by Chamness seconded by Talbert, demands approved by the Finance
Committee were ordered paid.

Agency
Beach pay.

Councilman Morehouse stated that he understood that a betting
forwarding agency was to be established in Huntington Beach.. After
some discussion, the matter was laid on the table pending further
information by the Council.
Councilman Talbert recommended that the beach pavilion be placed
at least 25 feet easterly from the municipal pier. No action was
taken by the Council.
At this time the Clerk gave Ordinance No. 405, entitled An Ord-
inance of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach relating
to and regulating traffic in the City of Huntington Beach, its
first reading.
On.motion by Henrickson seconded by Talbert, the Council adjourned
until 7:30 P.M., Monday, December 13th, 1937-

Pursuant to adjournment of December 6th, the City Clerk appeared
at the Council Chamber at 7:36 P.M. There being no quorum present,
the Clerk adjourned the meeting until 7:30 P.M. Thursday, December
16th, 1937-
