MINUTES
City Hall, Wednesday, March 9, 1938• '
Pursuant to adjournment of March 7th, 1938, the City Council
met and was called to order at 11:30 A.M. by Mayor Warner.
Councilmen present: Morehouse,Chamness,Talbert,Henrickson,Warner.
Councilmen absent: None.
Ord. #4o8 The Clerk read Ordinance No. 408,an ordinance of the City Council
passed
of the City of Huntington Beach calling and providing for the holding of
ah election for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said
city the proposition of incurring a bonded indebtedness by said city for
the acquisition, construction and completion of a public park and play- `
ground within said city and, on motion by Councilman Henrickson seconded
by Councilman Talbert, Ordinance No.408 was passed and adopted by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Morehouse,Chamness, Talbert, Henrickson, Warner.
NOES: Councilmen - None.
ABSENT: Councilmen - none.
Telegram to State Councilman Henrickson recommended that the Mayor send a telegram
senator & Assembly-
men to the State senator from this district and the two assemblymen in
opposition to proposed legislation known as the Mineral Leasing Act.
Mayor Warner stated that he would send the telegram immediately.
Lake park bldg. On motion by Henrickson seconded by Morehouse and upon re-
commendation of Mayor Warner, the Mayor and City Engineer were directed
to select electric lighting fixtures and the necessary furnishings for
the new Lake Park building. The motion carried with it the authoriza-
tion to exceed the budget appropriation if necessary.
Waste Water City Engineer Overmyer stated that the thirty days period in
which operators were allowed to connect waste water lines with city
lines had expired and that the Western Seaboard Company had not as
yet made any preparations to connect their lines and, on motion by
Talbert seconded by Chamness, the City Engineer was directed to
notify the Western Seaboard Company that unless connections were
made within ten days, the matter would be referred to the City
Attorney to start action.
Trees along Main Councilman Chamness recommended that the Council reconsider
Street
the matter of planting trees along Main Street and that immediate
planting be started. After some discussion, the matter was referred
to the park committee to,check up on cost and suggest a plan to btart
planting on Main and other streets; report would be received by the
City Council at its next meeting.
On motion by Henrickson seconded by amness, the Council
adjourned until Monday, March 14th 938 t : P.M.
